A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Cup O'Joe
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm
Cup OJoe is a close family trio who have been playing together from their early teens. They were raised in the traditions of bluegrass and folk and it is these traditions that their music is rooted in. They blend the intricate tones of bluegrass, folk and jazz to tones to create their own progressive acoustic sound. Their mix of original and re-imagined traditional songs sets the ingredients for an energetic and enthusiastic performance, and this is giving them a growing presence on the surrounding acoustic music scene in Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe. Strong sibling harmonies can be heard throughout their music, harmonies that blend together like only sibling harmonies can.

The former Radio 2 Young Folk Award Finalists have toured extensively through Ireland, England and Central Europe over the years. In 2017 they were selected to take part in the Bluegrass Ramble at the International Bluegrass Associations weeklong conference and festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, being along some of the first International bands to do so.

They are set to release their new album in January 2020, which contains nine new original songs and one traditional, whilst embodying a fresh original sound. For several tracks they are joined on mandolin by David Benedict (Mile Twelve), and on fiddle by Niall Murphy (Breaking Trad, Cara Dillon, Nathan Carter) as well as many more special guests.

"They make a truly gorgeous sound and play with such intuition as only a family can do.

Cara Dillon

Strange Doors

Doors 8:00pm - 11:30pm
The Strange Doors are a Doors tribute band that takes you back in time by recreating the sights and sounds of the legends you know and love. This band doesn’t just replicate the studio versions of Doors classics; we actually recreate the live Doors experience. Here you will find ad-libbed poetry, a singer that jumps into the air and writhes on the floor (whilst conjuring the Lizard King with his rich baritone voice), jazzy organ solos, bluesy slide guitar and powerful, yet subtle drumming that punctuates the music and vocals. Like a gig by the real Doors, a Strange Doors gig has an air of unpredictability... audiences are kept guessing what to expect next. The atmosphere is charged with the darkness and feeling of menace that only Doors music can provide.

The Strange Doors will take you on a journey into the severed garden... fires will be lit and lizards will be celebrated!

Ariel Posen
£15.00adv £15.00door
plus Cathal Murphy
Singer/songwriter. Internationally-renowned guitarist. Producer. Solo artist. A lifelong musician, there are few roles Ariel Posen hasn't played.

Although born in Winnipeg, Posen spent much of his childhood on the road, traveling from show to show with his musician parents. He began playing guitar at 9 years old, kicking off a career that eventually found him traveling the globe for his own gigs, including shows as a member of the Juno Award winning, roots-rock band The Bros. Landreth. Several years later, Posen began working on an album of his own, tracking his new songs in the same studio in which his parents once recorded their albums.

How Long marks Posen's long-awaited solo debut, showcasing not only his chops as an instrumentalist, but his talents as a diverse songwriter, too. The record casts a wide net, moving from rootsy blues to R&B to melodic rock & roll. A co-writer and producer for artists of all genres, Posen shows the full range of his talents on these 10 tracks, nodding to his influences — including The Beatles and many more — along the way. How Long is not a guitar record, although there's certainly plenty of guitar to be heard here. Instead, it's a song record, filled with hooks, autobiographical lyrics, and Posen's compelling voice.

"The guitar is the tool to get the music out," he says. "Always serve the song first. Otherwise, you're just playing an instrument.”

Doors 8:00pm
Austin Gold have been labelled as "Melodic Hard Rock". They are considered to be "The One's To Watch" and were awarded "Best Breakthrough Act 2017". See the band LIVE and you won't be disappointed!

The band of David James Smith (Vocals & Lead Guitar), Jack Cable (Guitars), Lee Churchill (Bass), Russell Hill (Hammond & Keyboards) and Chris Ogden (Drums), have been building a reputation as one of the best live acts around.

The album, as with all the label’s releases, was tracked to analogue tape. Armed with ten original songs and with near-telepathic communication, the band laid down the tightest of rock-solid tracks.

Their melting pot of influences come together to create something that is really very special.

From heavy guitar riffs, to the most delicate heart-felt ballads, from atmospheric sonic landscapes, to hook-driven melodies, this is an album that deserves to be heard.

With the release of “Before Dark Clouds” and relentless touring to follow, AUSTIN GOLD are set for a breakthrough year ahead.

SKAM
Formed by Steve Hill (guitar) and Matt Gilmore (bass), SKAM are a three-piece, hard rock band based in Leicester, UK. With the latest addition of Neal Hill on drums, SKAM are at their strongest ever. With over 450 gigs to their name to date and having played in every major city in the UK and Ireland this is a crack live unit with a stage show second to none.

Influenced by bands such as AC/DC, Iron Maiden and The Foo Fighters the band have a reputation for delivering no-nonsense, gutsy, classic British rock music. They have toured with bands such as Airbourne, The Answer, The Quireboys and The Wildhearts to name a few.

HELL'S ADDICTION
Originally a four-piece featuring brothers Ben (vocals) and Liam Sargent (guitar), Jason Green (bass) and Luke Morley (drums), Leicester's own Hell’s Addiction formed as a four piece in 2010, with their first album, the triumphant Raise Your Glass arriving in 2013.

They have always grafted hard to fine tune their craft and toured extensively leading up to 2015 at which point they started work on their most recent album – ‘Broken’. Released in July 2016 it received critical acclaim across the board. Describing Hell's Addiction as the "Bastard child of an illicit three-way between Skid Row, early Guns N' Roses and AC/DC", pretty much sums up their balls-out approach to Rock ‘n’ Roll.
