A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

The Feelgood Band
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm
High energy Rhythm & Blues played the Canvey Island way, recreating the energy and the unmistakeable sounds of 1970's Dr Feelgood. Take a step back in time and hear the distinctive vocal styling/harmonica playing of Mr Brilleaux and the unique sound and style of the "Wilko" guitar. The focus is on entertaining, with all the wonderful songs and signature moves! The band clearly enjoy themselves; their enthusiasm and passion for Dr Feelgood oozes out of every choppy chord and riff and this infects the audience more and more with every song. What more can be said. "They do it right".......if anybody should know, The Big Figure or Wilko's brother should know....right?
"Well done boys" John Martin The Big Figure
"Top job guys, takes me back!" Malcolm Wilkinson - Wilko's brother.

Rick Shea
DOORS OPEN AT 7.30
£10.00adv £12.00door
Longtime Southern California singer-songwriter Rick Shea got his early musical education in the bars and honky-tonks of San Bernardino. While you may often see him live with his worn old Telecaster, backing up the likes of Dave Alvin and Wanda Jackson or burning through a set of his own songs and a few honky-tonk standards, he's also built a solid career for himself as a solo artist, singer, guitarist and songwriter. With nine critically acclaimed albums, he’s performed all over Southern California, the West Coast and across the country and in Europe.

Shea's songs reflect the folk, country, rock and Mexican influences he grew up with. "Songs tell our stories and our history and songs were how those stories were shared in the past, I'd like to continue that tradition."

Daria Kulesh & Edwina Hayes
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm - 11:00pm
An exciting double bill of Daria Kulesh and Edwina Hayes. The wonderful piano of Marina Osman will add an extra sparkle to the evening.

Last year Daria and Marina played one of the best sets I have ever seen and I've already seen Edwina this year and she was brilliant. So you will be in for a real treat.

With her extraordinary voice and strong Russian and Ingush heritage, "bold, exotic, impressive" Daria Kulesh is a rising star and a unique character on the UK folk scene. Her 2017 album Long Lost Home has enjoyed national radio play, rave reviews and multiple awards including Laurel Canyon's Music Album of the Year.

Mike Harding praised the The Moon and the Pilot as "one of the most beautiful new songs of the last ten years" and described Daria as one of his "favourite singer-songwriters".

A hardworking and in-demand live performer, Daria offers her audiences a thoroughly engaging, entertaining and enchanting experience.

Edwina’s beautifully written songs, charming stage presence and voice of an angel have won her a reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana. She has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison as well as her own gigs playing stages everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall. Edwina numbers Michael Parkinson and Mike Harding among her fans and the title track of her album Pour Me A Drink was covered by Nanci Griffith who calls her 'the sweetest voice in England'.

Melvin Hancox Band
£8.00adv £10.00door
plus Piranha Brothers
The word genius is often over used but what else could the man whose show stopping performance at Abertillary Blues Festival on his ’57 custom three pick-upped black beauty Les Paul be coined, “Flights and notations of mystery and imagination crashed to Earth like space shrapnel” and a more to the point quote “Why isn’t this man a star?”. Just a few of the many positive media quotations Melvin Hancox has experienced of late.

Born to song writer and playwright Stephen and artist Lynette of late Melvin has had material played on the BBC, Rick Wakeman’s Planet Rock Show and live interviews and sessions on mainstream national radio along with writing and television work.

He has currently formed a band in his own image after many years of bringing his talent to others outfits. Playing his first gig at 12 yrs., getting his first record deal at 16 yrs. and touring Europe and gaining experience in both radio and television, forming “Vincent Flatts Final Drive” and scoring his second deal at 18 yrs. whilst also touring Costa Rica and The States and guesting on others sessions along the way, through various permutations he has worked with Ray Phillips: Budgie, Man, Tony McPhee, Tom Farnell: Savoy Brown, Canned Heat, Paul Hancox [no relation] ex-legendary Chicken Shack drummer with whom Melvin occasionally performs as “Imagination Lady”, Kex Gorin: Magnum Mick Bonham [yes related] and Ace Kefford, whilst going on to write, produce and release six highly original albums fronting his own trio as well a solo offerings.

Stacie Collins
£14.00adv £16.00door
plus The Midnight Dogs
Doors 8:00pm
Sporting a slam-bang rock 'n' roll band and a hard-core honky- tonk wail, Stacie Collins pushes the boundaries of rock, blues and country. A singer-songwriter and a bad-ass harmonica player in the style of Chicago Blues greats Little Walter and James Cotton, Collins has garnered a reputation for her high energy shows, diverse songwriting and unlike most chick-singers, they are not all about love and heartbreak.

Based in Nashville, TN, Stacie is a road warrior having performed countless shows in the USA and Europe over the past few years and has even spawned a Japanese Stacie Collins tribute band. In addition to touring, Collins, along with her writing partner, husband, band mate Al Collins (Jason & The Scorchers) have written, recorded and released five records on her own label.

Had her records been released twenty or thirty years ago, they would have sounded as natural on 70s FM radio alongside ZZ Top and The Rolling Stones as they do next to contemporary rockers like the Drive-By Truckers or Blackberry Smoke.

Godsticks
£10.00adv £12.00door
feat: Last Flight To Pluto + 25 yard Screamer
Doors 7:30pm - 11:00pm
Godsticks are a four-piece progressive heavy rock band from South Wales, formed in 2008. Having toured extensively throughout Europe with The Aristocrats and Mike Keneally, most recently they can be found showcasing their newer, heavier material supporting bands such as Textures and Dorje. Drummer Tom Price and guitarist Gavin Bushell bring an accomplished and aggressive playing style to back up Darran Charles’ unique vocal sound and Dan Nelson’s driving bass. Their fourth full length studio album ‘Faced With Rage’ was released to critical acclaim via Kscope on 13th October 2017 and was described by Prog Magazine as “A winning blend of channelled aggression and emotional depth, combining lyrical intelligence and instrumental fireworks”

Having already been hailed by the UK’s Metal Hammer magazine as “one of the UK's most idiosyncratic rock bands”, with their last album Godsticks delivered on their promise to be just as heavy as their self-released 2015 album ‘Emergence’ but this time with a darker feel and more industrial sound.
Led by Alice Freya, Last Flight To Pluto are a modern progressive rock band. They have a fresh approach to progressive music, whilst maintaining an old school vibe, thanks to an eclectic list of influences amongst the band members.
The big news for the band in 2019 is the upcoming release of their second album 'A Drop In The Ocean'. Featuring some excellent and visually striking artwork, this album follows on from the 2015 album 'See You At The End', which has gathered some rave reviews since its release and also landed the band a Limelight Feature in PROG magazine.
25 Yard Screamer are a Welsh trio with influences such as Rush and muse spring to mind. The band return after a storming Danfest8 appearance last year.
