A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Robert J Hunter Band
£10.00adv
plus The Jupiter Blues and Chambers
Doors 7:30pm
Island born Robert J. Hunter combines his gruff and powerful voice with the wild thud of overdriven blues guitar.
His powerful debut album, ’Songs for the Weary’, received blues chart success and critical acclaim and the single release, ‘Demons’, reached number one in the UK iTunes Blues Chart.
‘Before the Dawn’ followed late 2015 showing that Robert had matured and developed as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. Robert then released a solo acoustic album, ‘Where I’m From’ on independent label, Spiritual Records.
Robert’s new album and fourth studio release, ‘The Robert J Hunter Band’ was released February 2018 and features the iTunes number one singles, ‘Wait Your Turn’ and ‘Suzy’. This self-titled LP captures The Robert J Hunter Band in their most organic and raw form. Recorded live, this is an honest record, not hidden behind the makeup of over production. Listen here: http://smarturl.it/RJHB
In 2017 Robert was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) with his powerful ballad, ‘Preacher’ which was chosen from 16,000 entries.
Following his set at The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, The Robert J Hunter Band were chosen as the fifth and final act to compete in the UK Blues Challenge at Liverpool‘s legendary, Cavern Club.
This is a road worn, dirty blues band that’s been honed to super tight perfection by sheer hard work and volume of shows.

The Rollin' Clones
£11.00adv
Doors 8:00pm
“Keith Richards cannot be killed by conventional weapons” – Del Preston, Wayne’s World 2.

We’re choosing to believe this is true. How else could you explain the fact that despite 50 years of death, drugs, destruction and falling out of coconut trees the greatest show on earth is still on the road?
While not quite of the same vintage, The Rollin’ Clones have been entertaining crowds across the World for over 17 years, distilling the show down to a pure hit of Rock ‘n’ Roll, with a chaser of sequinned Glam.
From the early days of the Rhythm and Blues, through to the excesses of the 70s, The Rollin’ Clones’ Rock ‘n’ Roll show is a faithful interpretation of the biggest band ever’s greatest hits, delivered with a smirk and a wink, recalling the mischief making of Mr Jagger himself, remaining true to the spirit of the originals. They are, without question, THE Rolling Stones tribute band.

Caleb Caudle
Growing up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, singer-songwriter Caleb Caudle was raised on rock n’ roll and Southern hospitality. Influenced by bands like The Clash and Velvet Underground, Caudle was playing North Carolina’s punk rock circuit by the age of 15. Naturally, his music matured with his age and he became more lyrically driven, adopting a love for collecting vinyl. In 2012, he decided to quit his day job and focus solely on music -- five years and four albums later, Caudle is gaining the traction he deserves. He was recently dubbed “the musical equivalent of high-proof bourbon – rich in flavor, with a subtle, satisfying bite,” by Rolling Stone editors for their list of “10 New Country Artists You Need To Know”. He’s played Nashville’s famed AmericanaFest multiple times and his song, “Borrowed Smiles” was featured on last season’s dramatic season finale of CMT’s Nashville

Tiger Moth Tales and Red Bazar
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 7:30pm - 11:30pm
Tonight's acts both feature Peter Jones, the latest member of Camel. Both acts have new albums released and will perform tracks from them. Tiger Moth Tales is essentially the brain child of Nottinghamshire based musician and writer Peter Jones, who has been involved in the music industry performing around the UK and recording his own material since the late 90s.
Pete was born on October 6th 1980. At fifteen months Pete lost his sight due to Retinoblastoma. From an early age he was into all things musical and at the age of four had his first piano.
"Music has always been a huge part of my life. How much of that was influenced by my sight loss it's impossible to say, but i've always had a knack of picking up music by ear pretty quickly." (Pete)
Throughout his school years he took part in all kinds of musical activities ñ school plays, music festivals and concerts. One of the highlights of his young life was winning the junior final of BBC’s ‘Song for Christmas’ in 1988. Around this time he started to be aware of the music in the charts and was also influenced by music his parents listened to. Artists such as Phil Collins, Paul McCartney and George Michael were big influences, along with bands including Queen, Genesis, the Beatles and the Carpenters.
Red Bazar formed in 2007 with Andy Wilson on guitar, Paul Comerie on Drums and Mick Wilson on bass and keyboards.  The trio released their debut album in 2008, 'Connections' which was an instrumental album.  It was very well received by the prog world and excellent reviews from around the world.

The following year they started work writing and recording the follow up album 'Differential Being' which again was an instrumental album. The album was released in 2010 and this too received excellent reviews and saw the band move forward, making a video to the first track (Paragon) from the album  and undertaking a series of gigs.

The band's next release was a three track EP 'After The Ice Storm' released in 2013.  This used more keyboards, allowing them to create a wider variety of sounds.  The EP also received glowing reviews.l

The use of more keyboards made it difficult for the band to play live as Mick was juggling between keyboards and bass, so the band took the decision to find a keyboard player.  After a long search and many auditions, along came Gary Marsh.  He was perfect and was promptly added to the band's line-up towards the end of 2013.

Since then, the band have continued to write material, but wanted to try something different.  This resulted in a collaboration with vocalist Peter Jones, who had already released his own album 'Cocoon' under the name of 'Tiger Moth Tales'  (www.tigermothtales.com).  Through 2014 and 2015 the band wrote and recorded the songs for 'Tales from the Bookcase' which is a collection of musical stories, many of which are based on Pete's favorite books.  The album is to be released early in 2016 by White Knight Records (www.whiteknightrecords.co.uk).

plus Rob Jones
From Aberdare, South Wales, Singer/Songwriter John Adams grew up in the same area as the Stereophonics, and draws influences from the likes of James Morrison, Sam Smith, David Gray and James Blunt. With emotive and heartfelt narratives woven together as stories, John’s expressive and nuanced vocals compliment his acoustic approach and atmospheric piano accompaniments. His unique and impressive vocals are certainly the focus here, and John earns the undivided attention of the listener by addressing them directly, taking them on a musical version of journeys he has experienced internally.
