A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Final Coil
£5.00adv £5.00door
plus Temple Of Lies and Firegarden
Combining crushing riffs with ethereal, post-rock soundscapes, Final Coil offer up a quintessentially English take on alternative rock. Initially rooted in the explosive experimentation of the US underground scene, early Final Coil shows were noisy, messy affairs with broken equipment scattered across the stage and waves of arcing feedback left echoing around dark venues with sticky floors. With time, the band evolved to take a more nuanced approach, weaving stately, Gilmour-esque solos into the dense, metallic riffs and experimenting with layers of vocal harmonies reminiscent of Alice in Chains and Anathema.

Dan Baird & Homemade Sin

Doors 7:30pm
The Georgia Satellites were one of the most ferocious bands of the 80’s. What set them apart from the other 100,000 bands who cranked their amps up to eleven was that their wild riffs and tanked up cries came from a band who, from the start, understood it’s place in the rock tradition and fought hard to solidify it with each recording.

In Homemade Sin, you get two of the original Georgia Satellites line-up - Dan Baird and drummer Mauro Magellan - augmented by guitarslinger Warner E. Hodges of legendary Nashville rockers Jason & the Scorchers and new bassist Sean Savacool, who wowed audiences standing-in for Mikke Nielsen on last year's tour.

First appearing at the Musician back in 2010, Homemade Sin became a venue favourite from the get go with their no-nonsense rock 'n' roll and have become an annual highlight. Following last year's superb show with Joe Blanton more than ably deputising, we are delighted to announce that Dan is returning to the fold once again.

Rumour has it there may be a special guest making a very welcome appearance too.

"Not often am I so blown away by music, it's beautiful!" @TheProcCast Quirky. Earthy sisters Laura & Mary-Anne Ratcliffe remain the core element of Leicester band Mia & the Moon who perform original co-compositions in harmony with accompaniment ranging from gentle acoustic guitar to full band with a choir of angelic proportions and their new show (based on follow-up album...) ‘YLLA’ showcases this versatility featuring a diverse spectrum of talented musicians and singers, many of whom joined the band this year! Step-fathered by Brian Curtis who was front-man of bluegrass sensation ‘The Acme Band’, their genetic father Richard Thrift also performed music with Dolly Parton while mother Kathy Ratcliffe remains a prolific songwriter and country singer today. Early years spent at festivals and a background in gospel folk still comes through in Mia & the Moons sound, strongly influenced by modern day favourites such as Florence & the Machine, Ben Howard & Lana Del Ray. “Harmonies you just don’t hear anymore!” BBC Radio Leicester.

Formed on Canvey Island in Essex in the early 1970s Dr. Feelgood remains one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world. The raw and uncompromising style of their performance resulted in the album Stupidity that immediately went to the number one position in the U.K. charts.

Dr. Feelgood have also enjoyed global success with a string of hit singles including Roxette, Back in the Night, Milk and Alcohol, Down at the Doctors, She Does it Right, Going Back Home and See You Later Alligator - which gave the group their first gold record.

The last album to feature Lee Brilleaux - Down at the Doctors, was recorded live at the Dr. Feelgood Music Bar on Canvey Island, (now the site of the Oysterfleet Hotel) just two months before he died. The current line up features the rhythm section Kevin Morris on drums and Phil Mitchell on bass, approaching 27 years in the band and Gordon Russell on guitar. . “ The Diesels are currently picking up stunning reviews for their ninth album Let It Melt especially in the USA”

Diesel Park West are for many people the most enigmatic band from the late eighties still performing today. Back in those Thatcherite days the psychedelic guitar ground they occupied was often dismissed as a mere throwback to the mid-sixties with only an enlightened minority realising its real musical significance. The beating heart of rock ‘n’ roll is now far more aware of the Diesels' sound and maybe that’s why any live performance by the band is considered an event worth seeing. Drawing upon eight albums worth of material and the hippest cover versions imaginable, Diesel Park West continue to prove beyond a doubt that they really are the torchbearers for an entire genre.

Vents Magazine USA Says:
“One of the best rock albums I have heard in recent memory “
