A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Hannah Aldridge
£11.00adv £11.00door
feat: Dave Burn (Orphan Colours and ahab)
Doors 8:00pm
Hannah Aldridge releases her second album "Gold Rush" shortly. A big leap forward from her excellent debut "Razor Wire", it's a very personal album filled with heartfelt singing, proper tunes and more than a little rocking out. It's what country music should be but rarely is: honest, soulful, grounded and true. It's ten songs are as good a set as you'll hear this year and should move her up into the big leagues without further ado.

A founder of the late lamented ahab and a current member of the band that arose from their ashes, Orphan Colours, Dave Burn has just released his first solo album "Arizona". A superb mix of Americana and folk, with the gorgeous melodies that his bands are known for it looks set fair to make more than a few album of the year lists.

Dizzy Lizzy
£7.00adv £9.00door
First set 8.30pm

Dizzy Lizzy are a fantastic live tribute act, dedicated to the legendary Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy. Established in 1994, their sound and set-list faithfully recreate that trademark Lizzy sound. Philomena Lynott once stated that Dizzy Lizzy are “the closest to playing my son’s music'”. The band do indeed have an amazing sound and resemblance to the classic 70s and 80s rock band, taking you back in time to relive that magical musical era with a superb blend of classic foot stomping rock anthems and emotive ballads.

One of the country's most dynamic tribute acts, they are the only act to have headlined both the ‘Vibe for Philo’ in Dublin & ‘Remember Phil & Gary’ event in Holland. They have also performed and toured with original Thin Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell whose reaction on first seeing the band was telling. “I could only watch three numbers owing to the emotions. The resemblance to Phil and the mannerisms and playing, it was spooky – it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck…”

The Silver Threetles
50th Aniversary celebration of St Peppers Lonely Herats Club
£8.00adv £10.00door
plus The Troubadours
The Silver Threetles are more than a tribute to The Beatles, they are an in depth appreciation of Beatles music. A homage. The Silver Threetles came out of the desire to see The Beatles perform again. How would The Beatles deliver those songs after all this time?

There's millions of Beatles tributes, dressing up and recreating the records. The Silver Threetles decided that they wanted to focus solely on the music, noodling with the songs until they felt new and different.

"The challenge is to keep the essence of the song, whilst giving them a playful fresh coat of paint."

The Silver Threetles have created a unique series of shows that give the audience a breathtaking Beatles experience, paying tribute to music, but also adding a huge amount of energy to the perfoermcance. You can expect more than just a Beatles tribute band. This is an event.

There’s Springsteen-esque touches & hints of old Whiskeytown in the mix from this up and coming Pacific Northwest band." - Bruce Warren, WXPN Philadelphia, Producer, Some Velvet Blog

"I've lost track of how many times I've seen Massy Ferguson.  I guess that's a sign that I enjoy this band.  Their music spans many genres from Americana, roots, folk, twang rock, alt-country, and good ol' rock 'n' roll.  The music is two-step friendly, and dancing is always encouraged." - Lisa Knight, No Depression

The Bob Dylan Story
£10.00adv £12.00door
The Bob Dylan Story is the new stunning and definitive tribute to a songwriting genius who spoke for a whole generation.

Enhanced by a top backing band, the show lovingly and authentically recreates the many songs that made Dylan the living legend he is today, the way we all remember hearing them.

The heady idealism of Blowing In The Wind and The Times They Are A Changin; the electric venom of Subterranean Homesick Blues and Like A Rolling Stone; timeless love songs like Lay Lady Lay and I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight; the mysticism of All Along The Watchtower or Mr Tambourine Man; the lyrical tour de force of Hurricane to the catchy simplicity of Knocking On Heaven’s Door - these and many more memorable songs, along with some of the stories behind them, are captured to perfection.

Experience the thrill and energy of a Dylan concert planted firmly in the 1960s, a time when anything seemed possible, in a show that will remind you what REAL nostalgia feels like, and have you digging out your old vinyl to sustain the pleasure just that little bit longer
