A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Doors 8:00pm
A true Americian country blues great.

Kent Duchaine's musical nomadic life started over thirty years ago in Minnesota where he played with Kim Wilson before Wilson moved to Texas to form the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Kent honed his guitar skills playing with Lazy Bill Lucas, Boogie Woogie Red, Luther Tucker, Big Walter Horton, Hubert Sumlin, Eddie Burns and Margie Evans.

In the early 1990's he spent three years traveling and playing with the legendary bluesman Johnny Shines. Duchaine's guitar playing is rooted in the styles of Robert Johnson, Lightning Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Bukka White and Elmore James. He has a ferociously wild slide technique that exudes a frenzied power and he can switch gears in the wink of an eye to play some beautiful acoustic melodies.

Ben P. Williams is a difficult artist to pigeonhole and is all the better for it. Discovering The Beatles LP’s in his parents cupboard aged 5, he instantly became obsessed and began a voyage of musical discovery which has lasted his whole life. Moulding the classic song-writing sound of Paul Simon with the laid-back nature of Jack Johnson, Ben draws inspiration from the greats while injecting his own wit and imagination for lyrics which perfectly encapsulate relatable experiences to make you smile.

As a guitarist, Ben has worked with Grammy award winning producers, appeared on BBC 1, ITV and Channel 5, and played concerts supporting major artists such as Nile Rodgers and Chic, Will Young, Mick Hucknall and Lisa Stansfield. He has supported artists on European tours and at festivals around the world including South By Southwest Festival in Texas.

Worry Dolls
£10.00adv £12.00door
plus Emma Ballantine
Doors 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Worry Dolls are a young female duo who met in Liverpool at an open mic night when they were 18, both red heads with guitars, on their chosen path of becoming solo singer songwriters, and both falling under the spell of ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’. Their great chemistry and love of harmony led them to starting a contemporary bluegrass band playing Nickel Creek & Alison Krauss songs. Paired for an opportunity to have their songwriting critiqued by Paul McCartney, they were inspired to join forces as Worry Dolls and could now be described with an almost telepathically linked songwriting force. Blending the tender urgency of Zoe Nicol’s Irish-influenced voice with the fiery integrity of Rosie Jones’ vocals and rhythmic guitar. Zoe transferred her fingerpicking skills to ukulele, followed by Earl Scruggs-style banjo, motivated by players like Emily Robison (Dixie Chicks).

The pair were drawn to London, where they have developing a burgeoning cult following. In autumn 2015 they made the decision to quit their lives in London to fly to Nashville and record their debut album, paired by personal recommendations with producer Neilson Hubbard, a veteran of East Nashville’s music scene. Set to be released on January 27th 2017 on all outlets via Bread & Butter Music.

Zoe Nicol’s fleet banjo picking and warm, country tones weave into Rosie Jones’ grittier, pastoral-punk overtures on nostalgic songs of longing hearts and leaving trains” - MOJO

“Brilliantly quirky” - The Huffington Post

“Great harmonies and stirring folk-pop songs. Has Appalachian flourishes but owes as much to clever pop songwriting as rootsier influences” - R2 Magazine

“Fabulous songwriting and spine-tingling harmony vocals” - CMP Magazine

“Terrific rootsy music” - Paul Sexton, Radio 2

Kossoff - The Band Plays On
£15.00adv £18.00door
Doors 8:00pm
Terry Slesser, one of the country’s finest rock and blues vocalists, performing in tribute to his bandmate and friend the late, great Paul Kossoff - one of the greatest rock blues guitarists of all time. Celebrating Paul Kossoff’s entire career, the show features songs from his early days in FREE (including rock classics ALL RIGHT NOW, WISHING WELL, FIRE AND WATER etc.) through to songs from BACK STREET CRAWLER, the band Kossoff formed alongside Terry Slesser. Terry Slesser remains both a star and a master craftsman. As Paul Kossoff’s close friend and vocalist of choice, he has every right to sing every song performed by this band. Terry has assembled a great team of musicians to willingly assist him in keeping alive the memory of Paul Kossoff.

The band also features: John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, bassist with the world-famous Status Quo, Judie Tzuke, Dexy’s and Peter Green. Drummer Clive Edwards, whose resumé includes UFO, Wild Horses, Uli Jon Roth, Pat Travers. Guitarist John Buckton is relatively unknown in comparison to his band mates, but was recently reviewed as "one of the very best guitarists in British rock blues today, with a style that’s tasteful and subtle, yet which wails with true blues aggression". SIMON KIRKE himself has already said that were FREE ever to reform, John would be his choice. This is no two-bit collection of raggle-taggle pub-rock wannabes playing cover versions. This an authentic supergroup, and to all intents and purposes a direct continuation of BACK STREET CRAWLER.

Pete Lincoln
(The Sweet/Sailor)
£15.00adv £18.00door
Pete first picked up the guitar at the age of 11, and pretty much hasn’t put it down since – having made his career as a singer and musician, both on stage and in the studio. He spent the 80s and the 90s touring and recording with a wide range of artists including Sir Cliff Richard, Tina Turner, Shakin' Stevens and Dannii Minogue, travelling to all corners of the globe from New Zealand to Greenland. From 1996 to 2005, Pete enjoyed his time as front man for the 70s band Sailor – most famous for their hits “Glass Of Champagne” & “Girls, Girls, Girls”.
In 2005 Pete joined Glam Rockers The Sweet, and is still touring extensively with the band as lead vocalist and bass player. Much of the band’s live work is in Europe, particularly in Germany where they still enjoy massive popularity, however they also enjoy success further afield, with regular visits to Australia.
Pete has written songs and instrumental music throughout his career, with some degree of success, having composed for various TV shows and commercials. Credits include Gerry Anderson’s 80s Terrahawks series and Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson’s BBC Chat Show, Clarkson. He also wrote all of the music for Clarkson’s solo commercial projects throughout the 90s. Pete also co-wrote a ballad for British 90s popsters S Club 7 . . .
In 2013, Pete released a long overdue solo CD entitled 'Soul Searching' and his second solo CD 'Heartbeat' was released in May 2016. This collection of self-penned songs was very well received, both by Pete’s solo fans and Sweet fans alike.
Pete has always enjoyed the challenge of solo live shows, with just guitar and voice, and his international fans have been able to catch him performing tracks from Soul Searching, mixed with some new material plus Sweet & Sailor hits and a few well-chosen covers on his recent solo tour.

The New Wave of Blues from Chris King Robinson and his Band
Support is from Tom McCartney from Nottingham "bluesy rock n roll with a country twang" and Leicester's R and B combo ( Ex The Dead Shoot) Tom and Craig as These Bare Bones.
2015 was a defining year for Chris as fresh from a hugely successful 2 week Tour of the USA his debut EP 'Tell Me Why You're Scared' set the Blues world alight by flying straight to No.1 on both the Amazon and iTunes album charts. An in-depth feature in The Blues Magazine at the end of the year (November 2015) which discussed his chart success, song writing, playing style and influences further enhanced Chris’s reputation as a guitar hero in the making, his track “Why Don’t You Give Me Your Love” was featured on the magazine CD.

Chris’s fresh, modern take on the Blues in 2016 preceded him to play the highly exclusive Lead Belly Festival, held at the world renowned Carnegie Hall in New York City on February 4th. After being introduced on stage by Marky Ramone, Chris played a scorching psychedelic jam to the sold out crowd at Carnegie Hall!

At the age of just 22, this is only the beginning for a guitarist who many think will become the standard bearer for ‘The Blues’ for years to come!
