A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Fallen
A Tribute To The Music Of Evanescence
£6.00adv £8.00door
Doors 8:00pm
Right from the dramatic intro of their set, Fallen recreate the epic, dark and lush sound of Evanescence, combining heavenly, soaring vocals and hard-hitting guitars with orchestral, choral and electronic elements.

Fallen are currently the only Evanescence tribute act in the UK and the band members all have many years gigging experience behind them. The person filling the Amy Lee slot, Kyle Newman, is a classically-trained professional vocalist and the keyboard player, Rob Lindop, is also a professional musician.

Formed in November 2013, the band has subsequently gone from strength to strength and is now playing at some of the biggest and best music venues in the UK.

Playing songs from all three of the most well-known albums, Fallen accurately reproduce the sound of this innovative, unique and genre-setting band.

Renegades are four mega-talented, Midlands-based musicians with one thing in common; an undying love of the timeless and unforgettable music of Irish superstar rock band Thin Lizzy.

But when they were ready to rock, boy oh boy oh boy did they rock? Now, a few months down the line, the band have a handful of sizzling gigs under their belt and have speedily built up a solid reputation; as THE band to watch if you are a fan of Lizzy's music. If you can get in, that is!

Mandolin Orange
£15.00adv
plus Jess Bishop
Doors 7:30pm - 10:30pm
"Mandolin Orange has been quietly gathering local and faraway fans since its debut album was released back in 2010. The North Carolina duo's music -- laced with bluegrass, country and folk -- is often wistful and contemplative without being somber, and always firmly grounded in the South."

Lean in to Mandolin Orange’s new album, ‘Blindfaller,’ and it’s bound to happen. You’ll suddenly pick up on the power and devastation lurking in its quietude, the doom hiding beneath its unvarnished beauty. You’ll hear the way it magnifies the intimacy at the heart of the North Carolina duo’s (Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz) music, as if they created their own musical language as they recorded it.

Released on Sept. 30 on Yep Roc Records, ‘Blindfaller’ builds on the acclaim of Mandolin Orange’s breakthrough debut on the label, 2013’s ‘This Side of Jordan,’ and its follow-up, last year’s ‘Such Jubilee.’ Since then they’ve steadily picked up speed and fans they’ve earned from long stretches on the road, including appearances at Newport Folk Festival, Austin City Limits Fest, and Telluride Bluegrass.

They’ve always been keen on the notion that drawn-out recording sessions don’t necessarily yield better results. A good song, and just one good take, will always shine through any studio sorcery. The passage of time, and the regret that often accompanies it, courses through these songs.

A ‘faller’ is someone who fells trees, and in this case that person is blind to his/her own actions and those of the world.
