A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Voted best band at last year’s Cropredy Conventionand named THE band to see at Glastonbury by the Huffington Post, 2014 also saw Blackbeard's Tea Party make a huge impact at festivals as diverse as Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Costa Del Folk in Spain, and the Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo. With this growing reputation, it’s hardly a surprise that they are one of the most in-demand bands on the folk circuit.

Now we’re happy to welcome Blackbeard’s Tea Party back to the Musician with their brand of gutsy folk rock. Traditional songs and folk tunes are given a heavy rock edge with playful arrangements and driving dance rhythms. This is all mixed up in an engaging, high-octane stage show that frequently leaves audiences cheering for more.

Doors 8:00pm
Contemporary acoustic roots duo Gilmore & Roberts combine award-winning songwriting with astounding musicianship and their trademark harmonies to create a lasting connection with their audience.

Nominated three times at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Katriona Gilmore (fiddle, mandolin) and Jamie Roberts (guitar) have brought together some of their most emotionally charged material yet in a new album, Documenting Snapshots (released 29.9.23).

Drawing inspiration from fascinating stories, both personal and historical, Gilmore & Roberts present their songs through an ever-changing kaleidoscope of genres from rock to Americana, through a powerful wall of sound down to the most intimate pin-drop moments.

With a show full of songs ‘capable of making you dance, cry and think’ (Folk Radio UK) delivered with their ‘relaxed, banter-laden stage presence’ (Spiral Earth), a performance by Gilmore & Roberts will stay with you long after the final note fades.

JESS MORGAN

Jess Morgan will have you sloshed and woozy over a tumbler of songwriting so disarmingly uncomplicated, it could be the best kept secret on the folk scene right now. Morgan’s spirited, story-fuelled songs are anchored by warmth of delivery, with her easily distinguishable voice carried over the driving wheels of unfancified claw-hammer-finger-style guitar playing.

A prolific writer and posterchild for do-it-yourself music, Morgan was proud to unveil this years unexpected and unusual release - ‘The Bournemouth EP’ to vibrant acclaim and plays from national and international radio alike. The entire first run of CDs, dressed in colourful and tactile limited edition packaging, sold out in less than a day.

Nine Below Zero
£14.00adv £16.00door
plus The Della Grants
Doors 8:00pm
Since their formation in 1977 NINE BELOW ZERO have developed a reputation as one of the best blues bands in the country. Their high energy live act was already well established by the time they signed to A&M RECORDS in 1980 and was forever captured on their classic live album 1980’s LIVE AT THE MARQUEE. Legendary producer GLYN JOHNS subsequently worked with the band on 1981’s DON’T POINT YOUR FINGER and they became a familiar sight on seminal TV shows like THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST, THE SOUTH BANK SHOW and memorably performed ‘’11+11’’ on the very first episode of anarchic comedy hit THE YOUNG ONES. High profile tours with THE WHO and The KINKS followed and although their musicianship was reaching new heights 1982’s THIRD DEGREE was the last album released by the classic line-up.

The band made a triumphant return in 1990 to celebrate their 10th anniversary with an all new rhythm section consisting of BRENDAN O’NEILL (Drums) and GERRY MCAVOY (Bass) from RORY GALLAGHER’s band. A sell-out UK tour with this line-up led to a new record deal with CHINA RECORDS and tours with the likes of STING, RAY DAVIES, BRIAN MAY and an incredible 12 nights at THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL with ERIC CLAPTON.

A new 8-Piece NBZ Big Band took to the stage for the first time at GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2016 and were met with open arms by the fans. The new line-up of DENNIS GREAVES (Guitar/Vocals), MARK FELTHAM (Harmonica/Vocals), MICKEY BURKEY (Drums), BEN WILLIS (Bass), CHARLIE AUSTEN (Vocals), ANDREW NOBLE (Keyboards), CHRIS RAND (Saxophone) & PAUL JORDANOUS (Trumpet) then embarked on a 30 date tour of the UK to coincide with the release of 13 SHADES OF BLUE in September 2016.

You may remember Dan, he was the lead singer and chief songwriter with '80's roots superstars, The Georgia Satellites and the composer of, "Keep Your Hands To Yourself". Joining Dan in Homemade Sin is fellow ex Satellite, drummer Mauro Magellan and founder member of Americana Hall Of Fame Lifetime Achievement winners Jason And The Scorchers, guitarist Warner E. Hodges. The lineup is completed by new boy, Sean Savacool on bass.

Homemade Sin have a reputation for being one of the best live acts on the circuit, appearing at the Sweden Rock festival in 2009 and 2016, Hard Rock Hell in 2011 and 2012 as well as headlining the prestigious Kilkenny Festival in Ireland in 2012. 2017 saw them at the Ramblin' Man Fair Festival and the Zwarte Cross Festival.

The Rheingans Sisters are Rowan and Anna Rheingans, who are primarily fiddle players and singers. Incorporating traditions from across Scandinavia, Britain and America, they play both traditional and contemporary folk music. - fFroots

" Bold, fearless, honest, fiddle-driven folk, rich in Scandinavian, American and English influences "

Grace Petrie is a songwriter, activist and performer from Leicester, UK. She first exploded on to the national protest scene in 2010 with the emotive anthem Farewell to Welfare, which captured perfectly the spirit of the new wave of dissent in austerity Britain. Since then she has quietly become one of the most prolific and respected songwriters working in the UK today.

Tuff Love are Julie Eisenstein (guitar, vocals) and Suse Bear (bass, vocals), two close-knit pals living in Glasgow, Scotland - creators of hyper-infectious, fuzzed-up, lo-fi pop music that the city is so famous for. Writing together in Suse’s bedroom, and recording everything by themselves, their musical partnership has produced a flurry of addictive, perfectly formed songs - tied together by heart-wrenching harmonies, swoon-inducing lyrics, and sun-soaked dreamy melodies.

Following the release of their debut via Scottish independent label Lost Map Records. They have built up a sturdy live reputation, opening for sell-out crowds with Real Estate, Perfect Pussy, Joanna Gruesome, Honeyblood, and PAWS.

Adored by radio - and championed by the likes of Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Gideon Coe, Vic Galloway, among many others. The press have been equally smitten; with two separate features with The Guardian (“a band to fall in love with”), a 2 page interview in DIVA (“our new favourite indie band”), profiles in NME Radar (“great college rock”).

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Alyssa and Doug Graham have spent nearly their entire lives exploring music together. Friends since she was 7 and he was 9, they became a couple in their teens, then husband and wife. Somewhere along the way, they also became The Grahams, a dynamic Americana duo who've married their love of adventure with a desire to build on foundations laid by their musical predecessors. Their first song-crafting expedition, along the Mississippi's Great River Road, became their 2013 debut, Riverman's Daughter. For its follow-up, they rode the rails - and wound up recording not only a studio album, but a documentary and live album on the move and in venues from Sun Studio to Amtrak's famed City of New Orleans train

‘Fuzz-laden psych-pop style from the school of bands like Spacemen 3 and the Jesus & Mary Chain. The rhythm section and vocals lock into a monotonous churning, grinding juggernaut chug reminiscent of hypno-psych contemporaries Dead Skeletons, but the raw blown-out distorto guitar licks that slice over the top are more in the territory of The Heads or Aqua Nebula Oscillator when they really get going. ‘Beyond Burning Skies’ has a dual guitar splatter that’ll rip your face clean off.’

Doors 8:00pm
Old school punk rock. Like, REALLY old school.
Genuine 100% actual Londoners, The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing come from a past which probably never happened via a present they didn't want. Less steampunk and more "SteamPUNK", the British four piece mix Anarchy and Anachrony in equal measure. Expect a robot Sid Vicious covering Slayer in an 1877 East End Music Hall: a murky mix of Doctor Who, Doctor Watson and Doctored History. Not for the faint hearted or those of a delicate disposition.

The Men are:

ANDREW O'NEILL: guitars, vocals (raw), radical politics (roar), inappropriate swearing (c*nt).

GERHARD 'ANDY' HEINTZ: Vocals (sore), additional instrumentation (saw).

MA?C BU??OWS: Guitar (bass), vocals (treble).

JEZ MILLER: Drums (rhythm), overall mood (blues).

Their first album "Now That's What I Call Steampunk - Vol. 1" has been re-named after a legal dispute with EMI (seriously). It's now called "The Steampunk Album That Cannot Be Named For Legal Reasons".

Their critically acclaimed second album 'This May Be The Reason Why The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing Cannot Be Killed By Conventional Weapons' is out now.

In the early 1990's he spent three years traveling and playing with the legendary bluesman Johnny Shines. Duchaine's guitar playing is rooted in the styles of Robert Johnson, Lightning Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Bukka White and Elmore James. The Room are a melodic rock band hailing from the Southeast of the UK. The five band members bring together a broad range of musical influences which has helped form The Room’s distinctive style. Smart songs with great melodies are the essence of the bands sound with all the members involved in crafting the material.
Formed in 2010 the band finalised their line up in 2011 before starting work on a promotional single and then their debut album. Martin Wilson and Steve Anderson from progressive rock band GLD were joined by Andy Rowe, Andrew Rae and Steve Checkley.
Four highly successful launch shows were played in October 2011 to coincide with the release of the promotional single ‘A Casual Believer’ / ‘A Multitude of Angels’. Audience reaction was superb and the band was thrilled with the response, confirming that their musical direction was on target.
The band started writing the album over the winter, which was subsequently recorded at Platform Studios in the glorious English countryside in the spring and summer of 2012.
Melodic Revolution Records signed The Room on an album deal and Open Fire was released in December 2012. To support distribution in Europe, the band signed to F2 Music and the progrock.co.uk brand in the spring of 2013.
At the end of 2013, drummer Andrew Rae was forced to retire due to the onset of Tinnitus. March 2014 saw the arrival of new drummer Chris York and the start of a new chapter.
Tonight's show is billed as the new album launch and the support comes from Howard Sinclair.

The ever-popular award winning ‘Dark Side Of The Wall’ return once again to present an evening of classic Pink Floyd music in their own inimitable style.

One of those is the band’s long-serving, and Leicester-based, bass player Steve Chilton, says, “I always think that one of our great selling points is the fact that we love what we do. Live gigs should always be about that band and audience interaction. Pink Floyd’s music and persona is often perceived as quite serious but whilst we perform their music with the love and respect it deserves, we always bring our own personalities to the stage. This is definitely no ‘look-a-like’ tribute band and we’re proud of that. Who’d want to look like Pink Floyd anyway?”

In well over 2 hours of reverent tribute to their heroes DSOTW perform music from all Pink Floyd’s classic albums and feature tracks such as Comfortably Numb, Money, Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Another Brick In The Wall to name just a few.
