A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to darrennockles at gmail.com.

Dave Bainbridge & Sally Minnear
£15.00adv
Doors 7:30pm
Award winning multi-instrumentalist Dave Bainbridge joins forces with Lord of The Dance vocalist and instrumentalist Sally Minnear to bring a spellbinding evening of music that will, in equal measure have you jigging in (or out of!) your seat or bring a tear to your eye. A compelling mix of powerful and ethereal vocal songs (including the occasional emotive Gaelic ballad) and instrumental tracks, the set will feature jigs, reels, slow airs, evolving soundscapes and virtuoso improvisation on keyboards, electric guitar, bouzouki and cowbell!

Dave and Sally first toured together as a duo in July 2015. Such were the incredibly positive reactions to the tour that they have continued work together whenever their busy schedules allow, bringing their magic to audiences far and wide. Their first release together ‘Live in the Studio’ received amazing reviews and audience reactions.

Dave is best known co-founder of pioneering Celtic folk/rock/progressive/ambient band IONA and more recently Lifesigns, Celestial Fire, DBA (with Geoff Downes of Yes), and Strawbs, and has worked with Jack Bruce, Troy Donockley, Buddy Guy, Gloria Gaynor, Mae McKenna, Moya Brennan,

Dark Side Of The Wall
£13.00adv
Doors 7:30pm
The ever-popular award winning ‘Dark Side Of The Wall’ return once again to present an evening of classic Pink Floyd music in their own inimitable style.

One of those is the band’s long-serving, and Leicester-based, bass player Steve Chilton, says, “I always think that one of our great selling points is the fact that we love what we do. Live gigs should always be about that band and audience interaction. Pink Floyd’s music and persona is often perceived as quite serious but whilst we perform their music with the love and respect it deserves, we always bring our own personalities to the stage. This is definitely no ‘look-a-like’ tribute band and we’re proud of that. Who’d want to look like Pink Floyd anyway?”

In well over 2 hours of reverent tribute to their heroes DSOTW perform music from all Pink Floyd’s classic albums and feature tracks such as Comfortably Numb, Money, Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Another Brick In The Wall to name just a few. If you’ve seen Dark Side Of The Wall in concert before then you’ll know it’s a gig not to be missed as they bring their theatre show into the more intimate setting of the Musician.

Vision Video
£16.00adv
Doors 6:00pm
Vision Video is a post-punk goth rock band from Athens, Georgia that injects modern malaise into classic sounds of the late 70's and 80's.

The band pays homage to classics like the Chameleons and The Cure, while also bringing a refreshing modern element to the genre.

Thematically their music explores the effects of trauma on the human psyche and finding stability and agency in an insane world. Having served in Afghanistan with the army and as a firefighter in the civilian world, lead singer and guitarist Dusty Gannon is no stranger to the darker proclivities of humanity and death itself. "I wanted to write music that helped people remember that it's okay to not be okay, but that also doesn't shy away from taking a stern look at the darker aspects of our flawed human existence." says Gannon.

Eve Selis & Friends: Dark Sky Blue ~ Healing Hearts Tour
£17.00adv £20.00door
Doors 7:30pm
Seated concert

Eve Selis, a dynamic singer-songwriter from San Diego, California, has spent over three decades captivating audiences worldwide with her powerful voice and evocative storytelling. Known for blending Americana with rich Singer-Songwriter influences, Eve’s deeply personal lyrics and soulful melodies strike a chord with listeners, providing comfort, hope, and inspiration.

Music has been part of Eve’s life since childhood. Growing up in a large family, her passion was ignited by her first record, Jesus Christ Superstar. Over the years, she toured extensively, performing for troops overseas and sharing stages with many notable artists. However, her life took a tragic turn when her beloved brother, Pete, took the lives of others before ending his own, leaving Eve to confront unimaginable grief. This event plunged her into deep despair, but her faith and music became the lifeline that helped her find her way back to healing.

Her latest album, Dark Sky Blue, released on April 12, 2024, is a reflection of that journey from darkness to light. Each song wrestles with grief, redemption, and forgiveness, culminating in the emotional final track, "Somebody’s Brother," which captures the complexity of loving someone who has committed the unforgivable. Eve’s music became an outlet for processing her pain, and in sharing her story, she has discovered the profound healing that comes from vulnerability. Through her music, she fosters compassion and reminds us that, under certain circumstances, we are all capable of darkness—but also of redemption.

With Dark Sky Blue and her previous album, See Me With Your Heart, Eve continues to create music that serves as a vessel for emotional and spiritual healing. Her journey through loss, self-discovery, and resilience is woven into every note, offering not only a connection to her personal story but a pathway for others to heal through their own. Eve Selis’ powerful vocals, poignant storytelling, and steadfast dedication to her craft inspire and uplift, reminding us that even in life’s darkest moments, love and hope can still prevail.

John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett
£20.00adv £22.00door
Doors 7:30pm
This magnetic bond still holds after more than 40 years of attempted escapes and still loved for their total in-yer-face originality, the contrast between the dead pan humour of Barrett and mad onstage antics of Otway are hilarious to watch. John’s lyrical genius and Willy’s outstanding musicianship (he seems to play almost every stringed instrument known to man, plus a few hybrids of his own making!)

Ever keen to add a new dimension to the show, Willy has a new addition to his array of instruments. Beware the Moose Homp!

Willy’s interest in making instruments began when he commandeered two guitars made by his dad in 1965. One from an old guitar neck and a scaffold plank which became affectionally known as the Les Dawson, and the other branded the Mk1 Schitstik electric slide of similar pedigree. These instruments were used on many of the early tracks, including Really Free and Racing Cars).

In 2022, John celebrated his 5,000th gig to a packed house at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

And if that’s not enough, we are now talking about DOCTOR JOHN – an Honorary PhD in Music by Oxford Brookes University. “I’m really thrilled to be awarded this totally unexpected honour, especially as I failed all my A levels as I decided to concentrate on preparing for my burgeoning career as a rock star. To get this from Oxford Brookes 50 years later shows I did the right thing.”

Willy’s remark “this will be the last time that many of you will see us together again” was often hastily misinterpreted as the final throw of the dice, but the reason given “it’s not us packing up, it’s you lot dying off, you know who you are!” is often overlooked by eager scribes. And so the rumours abound.
