A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Pete Morton

Doors 7:30pm
Pete Morton began his musical journey after he came across a Buffy St Marie record. It was from that moment on he decided to become a folk singer. Discovering the songs of the early sixties protest movement, it inspired him to write and take his songs into folk clubs and beyond.

For thirty years, Pete has been performing to audiences all over the world. Throughout that time he has been regarded as one the best on the contemporary roots music scene. His latest album 'A Golden Thread' has received rave reviews with eight newly self penned songs, a Pete Seeger classic 'Oh Had I A Golden Thread', and versions of the traditional gems, 'Barbry Allen' and 'The Farmers Boy'.

Often referred to as an old time troubadour he has a compelling stage presence and approachable style that delivers an unruly mix of humanism, politics, love, social commentary and humour all wrapping its way around the folk tradition.

Nitroville was founded by vocalist, Tola Lamont and guitarist, Kurt Michael. In 2016, Nitroville released their album ‘Cheating The Hangman’ with Scandinavia’s biggest rock & metal label, Mighty Music/SPV. Nitroville quickly drew the attention of the international press which commented on the band’s rock solid musicianship and song writing, powerful vocals of front woman Tola Lamont and lead guitarist, Kurt Michael’s heavy grooving guitar riffing.

Nitroville’s American sound and production evokes road movie images of the darker kind. The songs are relentless and raw, at times menacing and paranoid, as much as poetic, big and spacious, delivered with a wall of classic Marshall amp sound.

‘Cheating The Hangman’, garnered positive coverage in Rock music’s biggest international publications from UK’s own Classic Rock and Fireworks, to Germany’s Metal Hammer and Rock It, Finland’s Inferno and Denmark’s Metalized. A prominent reviewer from Canada’s leading rock magazine, Sleaze Roxx, considered Nitroville's "Cheating the Hangman" as his favourite album of the year - 2016.

Metal Hammer describes Nitroville as: “Pure high-energy-rock with punchy riffs, intricate cowboy guitar, hard-driving high speed tunes and matching big balls”.

Classic Rock Magazine, UK: “It burns brighter than a NASCAR pit lane fire”.

4 Canadian Folk Music Award nominations
Following the release of her acclaimed album ‘My Name is Suzie Ungerleider’, three-time Canadian Juno Award nominee Suzie Ungerleider has announced a string of 2022 UK shows in an extension to her North American tour. Beginning on 1st June at London’s The Water Rats, the tour marks Suzie’s first performances in the UK of her new music.

Sharing her excitement towards a much-anticipated return to UK audiences, Suzie said: “To come play live in the UK again and to share new songs, as well as old favourites, makes me very happy. I’ve always felt a special connection with the folks in the United Kingdom with their appreciation of dark humour, stories, and love of language.”

Met with critical acclaim and earning Suzie her third Juno Award nomination, ‘My Name is Suzie Ungerleider’ is the first album since the artist formerly known as Oh Susanna announced that she would now record and perform under her birth name.

“Thoughtful lyricism, the sound of a woman confident in her artistic path”
- The Arts Desk

Bursting with trademark evocative melodies and trenchant lyrics, it's the tenth solo studio album by the American-born, Canadian-raised artist revered for such landmark records as Johnstown, Sleepy Little Sailor and A Girl in Teen City. The decision to say “so long” to her long-time moniker Oh Susanna represents her recognition that the “exciting, dark, funny, charming” character that she thought was Oh Susanna was actually Suzie Ungerleider all along. “So here I am, leaving behind the trappings of a persona that gave me the courage to climb up onstage and reveal what is in my heart,” she reflects. “It once protected me, but I need to take it off so I can be all of who I am.”

Founding member of revered fem-folksters The Poozies and folk-rock’s reformed Fotheringay (now re-named The Sandy Denny Project), Sally takes time out from new indie-folk trio IOTA (and duo work with Vicki Genfan and Anna Ryder) to perform classics by Joni and Sandy alongside her own songs.

Sally’s forthcoming solo ep ‘Ever Been to Nashville ?’ is due in 2022.
