A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Max Bianco and The Bluehearts
Casbah Sunday Chilll-Out
£10.00adv
plus Sam Hinds
Doors 1:00pm - 5:00pm
Max Bianco has collaborated with The Jar Family and The Murder of Crows in addition to his extensive solo work (and work as an artist - see the cover of the Harlot Moon album).

Folk roots but with a bluesy feel with echoes of Bob Dylan and others from that era. The album Harlot Moon and the new single "She Was Mine" bring Max Bianco together with the equally talented musicians in The Bluehearts.

The release of Harlot Moon was another casualty of the 2020 pandemic however we are hopeful that we will hear the full album in the second set at this gig. In the meantime hit Spotify and press repeat, it's addictive and very commercial.

Support comes from local singer-songwriter Sam Hinds. Having spent several years gigging on a variety of stages around the UK as a solo performer, collaborating with other artists, songwriters and producers and carefully developing and refining his song craft along the way, Sam is proud to finally be stepping out of the studio and into the light with his debut EP 'Rolling Stone', which was released to critical acclaim last year.

Collars

plus The Levy Circus
Doors 8:00pm
Based in rural Cambridgeshire, Collars is made up of Dan and Kane. Together they play their own brand of indie, driven by vocals, guitar and pared-back drums. Dan sings, writes and hammers a bit of synth, while Kane plays guitar and beats at the same time thanks to some self-modded drums he negotiates with his feet. The results? Wholesome indie like your mama used to make! If your mama was Florence Welch and your grandparents were the White Stripes.

James Maddock
SHOW SOLD OUT
plus Jersey Budd
Doors 8:00pm
The best singer-songwriters serve the song. The songwriter’s songwriter, James Maddock, who has earned the respect of masterful writers such as Bruce Springsteen and Willie Nile, has built his acclaimed legacy on humbly honoring purity of expression. His 2009 album Sunrise On Avenue C won a New York Music Award for Best Americana Album, while the follow-up Wake Up And Dream ranked among the top albums of 2011 in WFUV's (NYC) Listener Poll. With the release of Another Life (2013) and The Green (2015) Maddock continued to demonstrate why many consider him to be one of the best singer/songwriters working today.

His status as a fixture on the Folk and Americana scene is confirmed with every listen of any song in his prodigious catalog. Relix Magazine put it this way: “James Maddock possesses the kind of lived-in craggy voice that would sound authoritative if he were singing the sports pages. Fortunately, he doesn't need to do that because his compositional skills are a match for his delivery."

A New York resident since 2003, James grew up in Countesthorpe, Leicester and ranks up there with the best of our musical exports. His latest full-length studio album 'No Time To Cry' was released in 2020.

This is an all-seated, limited capacity show.

Albany Down
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm
Contemporary UK blues-rock band Albany Down came together with some classic rock and Brit blues-rock influences, but with their 2011 debut album, they found their own sound. Albany Down is founder member Paul Turley on vocals and guitars, drummer Pete Hancock and bassist Ben Atkins. The band has recorded 3 studio albums with producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, INME, Super Furry Animals).

"These guys are really going somewhere; make sure they take you with them!" was Paul Jones's assessment for the BBC Radio 2 Blues Rock Review. “South of the City is a solid debut album from Albany Down and they will be an interesting band to watch develop in the coming years”. In 2013, the band stepped up to the plate with their formidable album “Not Over Yet”, followed by their much-anticipated 3rd album 'The Outer Reach'.

The band’s big Zeppelin-influenced sound draws from the same British blues-rock well that gave Zeppelin a head start all those years ago and later was rediscovered by Joe Bonamassa but it’s the resonant substance of the band’s own songs and their exuberant style that gives the music its edge. Albany Down are a band that runs on pure adrenalin, unrelenting energy and raw emotion. Rock blogger Neil Mach probably got it right, when he described the band; "As hot as volcanic ash and yet as cool as snow slippers."

The Cinelli Brothers
£13.00adv
plus Greg Brice
Doors 1:00pm - 5:00pm
The Cinelli Brothers is a project born out of a common passion for the electric Chicago and Texas blues from the 60s and 70s, when brothers Marco (guitarist and lead singer) and Alessandro (drummer) decided to form an explosive team showcasing original repertoire in the style of Chess, Stax and Motown. Joining the two brothers on stage, Enzo Strano on bass and Tom Julian-Jones on harmonica and guitar.

Their debut album Babe Please Set Your Alarm was recorded at the Soup Studio in London and the full live and analog recording was released in May 2018 on vinyl and digital format. The record went number 2 in the IBBA (Independent Blues Broadcasters' Association) in June 2018 and prompted features in Blues in Britain, Blues Matters, Classic Rock and other magazines, and a UK Blues Awards nomination for 'Blues Band Of The Year'.

Legendary radio and broadcaster David ‘Kid’ Jensen once played a different track from their album on six consecutive weeks of his United DJs radio show, naming them as his favourite blues outfit, and his favourite blues album in many years, and Music Republic Magazine nominated Marco Cinelli as 'Best Guitar Player of 2018'.

The Cinelli Brothers champion a new generation of passionate musicians sharing in the love of Blues, Soul, R&B and the true authentic sounds that have made the blues a cornerstone of music history.
