A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Grumpy O Sheep

Doors 8:00pm
Grumpy O Sheep is a rocking crazy duet from the region of Belfort ( France). This unusual duo mixes with energy and talent the colors of Irish melodies imbued with peat, whiskey and beer and the wild rhythms of the Spanish guitar, all in a resolutely Rock interpretation.

The so-called "Irish Rodrigo y Gabriela" are already programmed in many festivals and on many radios like Calkoat in Canada, Irish pub radio in Ireland, Paddy rock in the USA and on the famous Dutch radio Celtkast which declares about their first album: "If you want to bring home the fun of Irish music, the energy of Spanish guitar and the Joie la Vivre of the French, with the dynamism that only two truly talented young musicians can bring, free-spirited and undisturbed by rules, then East of Talisker is the album to get. Grumpy O Sheep is a duo of artists, performers, theater people and street musicians rolled into one package, and I loved every note of it. Long live Grumpy O 'Sheep!"

The Rollin Stoned
£13.00adv
Doors 8:00pm - 11:30pm
With a Rollin Stoned show, the costumes are shamelessly camp, gaudy and absolutely fab, the instruments genuinely vintage and the wit irreverent. However while the tongue is never far from the cheek we make sure it is never to the detriment of the music. This band is not to be confused with the grotesque parody on parody 'Stella Street'-Lite Stones bands that abound, nor a bunch of seasoned old pros, opportunistically hitched on to the “Tribute Bandwagon” for an easy ride. What clearly comes across to audiences seeing the band at work is the passion we all have for the music of what is, cliche or not, "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band" the world has seen.

A typical two hour show includes not only all the classic crowd pleasing hits, but is spiced with enough eclectic selections from the deeper recesses of Stones Album archives to satisfy the most demanding of “Buffs”, all performed with the same vibrantly authentic attack and raw energy that characterised the original Stones shows in their prime.

Kirsten Adamson
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm
Award-winning singer/songwriter Kirsten Adamson (daughter of rock legend Stuart Adamson (Big Country, Skids)) summons the same heart-stopping purity as Sandy Denny, by way of Emmylou Harris and Kate Bush. Since spending summers soaking up the atmosphere in Nashville with her dad, and singing on Big Country’s Driving To Damascus album, Kirsten has been steadily developing her own voice and songwriting, with indie folkers Aberfeldy, country rockers The Gillyflowers and Americana duo The Marriage.

Her second solo album Landing Place (2023) is a glorious powerhouse of emotionally charged, beautifully delivered songs that bustles and glistens with echoes of folk rock and country gems. It was launched at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections, an official showcase at London’s UK Americana Music Festival and a sold out UK tour in April.

Adamson is joined by her dynamic band The Tanagers for this special show. Richard Anderson (bass), Scott Forsyth (drums) and Jon Mackenzie (electric guitar) are drawn together by their love of harmonies and Americana providing the perfect outfit for Adamson’s country style. Adamson and the band have impressed audiences and critics at festivals this summer including The British Country Music Festival in Blackpool's prestigious Winter Gardens, Moseley Folk festival, Fringe By The Sea, Outwith festival and the Edinburgh International Festival.

“Adamson knows how to hold a crowd in the palm of her hand, her vocals are clear and powerful, her songs are strong, she is an all round entertainer.” (The Writers Room)

Doors 8:00pm
Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse is the musical creation of Greta Valenti and Robin Davey. The pair met when their respective bands crossed paths on YouTube, having already established themselves as performers and musicians. When LouderSounds preaches “Let Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse twist yer melons and remind you of the wonder of life” it might be because the bands vibe is easier to pin down than their unique take on the roots genres. Rockshot Magazine elaborates “This extremely entertaining collective is a New Orleans-inspired, American blues-folk-soul band, who refuse to be pigeon-holed”.

To fully understand Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse is to experience the band live, a mix of soulful songs, intense energy, and world-class award-winning musicianship. RhythmBooze summed up the shows finale as “A mind-boggling, blistering finish with everything thrown in including the kitchen sink...truly memorable”.

Beaux Gris Gris and The Apocalypse debut album Love & Murder spurned Top 10 hits in genre charts across Europe. The albums wide-reaching appeal earned it a #13 placement in the “Top 50 Albums of the year” by Classic Rock Magazine, describing it as “A sensual, vibrant cocktail“

Guitarist Robin Davey was the youngest ever inductee into the British Blues Hall of Fame. He spent time as an artist on Atlantic and Interscope Records, and has recorded with a wide spectrum of artists from Mick Jagger to Katy Perry. Multi-award-winning vocalist and songwriter Greta Valenti is Louisiana-born-and-bred creative with generations of her family dating back before the Louisiana purchase. Her rock outfit Well Hung Heart (OCMA’s Best Live Band) toured the USA opening for the likes of Fitz & The Tantrums, Twenty One Pilots, Foreigner, and Offspring.

“Top 50 Albums of the year” by Classic Rock Magazine, describing it as “A sensual, vibrant blues cocktail that feels worlds away from the blandness and dustiness that the blues (new blues especially) is sometimes accused of”.

“I’m not sure if it gets much better, either in terms of music from the North-East or terms of bluegrass, than The Often Herd”Mark Walsh, BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

Bluegrass band The Often Herd transcend the traditional boundaries of the genre. Although they might resemble an American string band, complete with driving energy, tight vocal harmonies and dazzling instrumental interplay, their vibrant, transatlantic sound is deeply coloured by their surroundings; the striking natural and industrial landscapes of Northern England. This unique approach won them the title of “Best European Bluegrass Band 2018”at the prestigious La Roche Bluegrass Festivalin France.

Rupert Hughes (guitar) and Evan Davies (mandolin), write songs steeped in personal experience whilst drawing from a wide pool of influences ranging from old-time to psychedelia. American-born fiddler Niles Krieger and jazz bassist Sam Quintana add fiery instrumental skills to the mix, launching the band’s arrangements into the stratosphere. Together, their sound is both boldly contemporary and soothingly familiar, taking time-honoured traditions to new places with a fresh perspective.

The band have an impressive number of festivals booked this Summer (including The Long Road, Broadstairs Music Week, Ely Folk Festival& Priddy Folk Festival) and have previously showcased atIBMA Bluegrass RambleandAmericana Music Week, Hackney. They released their debut album‘Where The Big Lamp Shines’in June 2022, recorded with producer Tom Moore(Slow Worm Records, Moore, Moss, Rutter).
