A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Hot on the heels of the release of their debut album DON’T THREATEN ME WITH A GOOD TIME (but lagging slightly behind following December's postponement), Dig Lazarus finally return to Leicester and the Musician for a riotous party, and dare we say it, a good time. And no, this is no April Fools!

To celebrate in style, Dig Lazarus will be joined by very special guests ALLY DICKATY (frontman for the Virginmarys) and long-time Leicester legends SKAM, for what will be an epic night of hard rock n’ roll. It’s been a few years since Dig Lazarus returned to the proverbial womb for a hometown show - and having honed their live act to a fine art thanks to their 2021 autumn UK tour with the Virginmarys, they are ready to get back to where it all began - The Musician, Leicester, live and loud.

Dark Side Of The Wall
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm
The ever-popular award winning ‘Dark Side Of The Wall’ return once again to present an evening of classic Pink Floyd music in their own inimitable style.

One of those is the band’s long-serving, and Leicester-based, bass player Steve Chilton, says, “I always think that one of our great selling points is the fact that we love what we do. Live gigs should always be about that band and audience interaction. Pink Floyd’s music and persona is often perceived as quite serious but whilst we perform their music with the love and respect it deserves, we always bring our own personalities to the stage. This is definitely no ‘look-a-like’ tribute band and we’re proud of that. Who’d want to look like Pink Floyd anyway?”

In well over 2 hours of reverent tribute to their heroes DSOTW perform music from all Pink Floyd’s classic albums and feature tracks such as Comfortably Numb, Money, Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Another Brick In The Wall to name just a few. If you’ve seen Dark Side Of The Wall in concert before then you’ll know it’s a gig not to be missed as they bring their theatre show into the more intimate setting of the Musician.

Chris Difford is a rare breed. As a member of one of London’s best-loved bands, the Squeeze co-founder has made a lasting contribution to English music with hits such as Cool For Cats, Up The Junction, Labelled With Love, Hourglass and Tempted. Despite the fact that Chris has helped soundtrack so many fans’ lives since his first release in 1977, the passion for innovation and love of playing still drives him to carry on writing rather than sit back and admire his handiwork. Chris recently celebrated his 60th birthday and for 41 of those years he has been writing with Glenn Tilbrook, very much the Odd Couple. When Squeeze take a break from the road, Glenn and Chris have been touring their At Odds Couple Tour both in the UK and the US.

The Rollin Stoned
£12.00adv
Doors 8:00pm
With a Rollin Stoned show, the costumes are shamelessly camp, gaudy and absolutely fab, the instruments genuinely vintage and the wit irreverent. However while the tongue is never far from the cheek we make sure it is never to the detriment of the music. This band is not to be confused with the grotesque parody on parody 'Stella Street'-Lite Stones bands that abound, nor a bunch of seasoned old pros, opportunistically hitched on to the “Tribute Bandwagon” for an easy ride. What clearly comes across to audiences seeing the band at work is the passion we all have for the music of what is, cliche or not, "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band" the world has seen.

A typical two hour show includes not only all the classic crowd pleasing hits, but is spiced with enough eclectic selections from the deeper recesses of Stones Album archives to satisfy the most demanding of “Buffs”, all performed with the same vibrantly authentic attack and raw energy that characterised the original Stones shows in their prime.

Stick In The Wheel’s work is rooted in traditional music and song, informed by the modern electronic music that grew out of their hybrid East London heritage. Nicola Kearey and Ian Carter use centuries-old work-songs that speak to present-day issues of class -an inherently political act -as well as historical material from Saxon poetry to Medieval carols.

Their third studio album, Hold Fast, is a deeply layered journey of hope and resistance, with a sonic palette that is wider yet more nuanced than ever, with synths, spoken word and psychedelic guitar fuzz. SITW continue to push forward the contemporary tradition of roots music, whilst maintaining and celebrating music from our collective histories – conjuring the past to point toward the future.

Doors 7:00pm
Liz Lawrence is a songwriter of depth, honesty and humility without forgetting we all need a little pop music in our lives, particularly in these hard times. With great album releases in 2019 and 2021, Liz is genuinely proving to be a cut above and we're delighted to welcome her band to the Musician for the first time.

With a career that has seen her previously support Ani DiFranco on tour and collaborate with indie stalwarts Bombay Bicycle Club, Liz Lawrence has retained a budding presence for the best part of ten years, both on her own merit and as one half of electro-pop duo Cash+David.

The Stratford-upon-Avon-born singer-songwriter is, as such, no stranger to incorporating synth elements into her work, albeit sparingly in a solo capacity until her latest album 'The Avalance', titularly inspired by the scale of artist Tacita Dean’s work The Montafon Letter. In this she exchanges the plaintive notes of her last release 'Pity Party', drawing instead on the instability of adolescence via careening certified bops with a renewed outlook painted by intervening experience.

Liz further establishes herself as an underrated force with 'The Avalanche', an evolution from the fun-loving folk of debut 'Bedroom Hero' to an emotionally varied vantage point that is both mature and youthfully animated.
