A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Man Machine - Kraftwerk Tribute
This gig has been moved to 12/3/22
£10.00adv £12.00door
The UK and Europe’s Ultimate Kraftwerk tribute band. Animating the audience with live music and a laser performance of Kraftwerks' electronic dance tunes, this stunning tribute band is dedicated to the German pioneers of synthesizer music who influenced the British scene of the 70’s and 80’s which along with German techno was coming full circle to dance music in the 90’s.

What Kraftwerk have said and produced over three decades of music-making has inspired many of the key players in today’s popular music. This tribute act is a Van-w concept of stage media art and includes popular Kraftwerk tracks such as The Model, Pocket Calculation, The Robots, Autobahn, Tour de France and Trans Europe Express, all demonstrating that songs about very simple subjects can leave an immensely powerful and striking impression.

Since being named Best Newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Sam has been stirring audiences from Camden to Canada, via an attention grabbing appearance on Later... with Jools Holland and a dreams-really-do-come-true performance in a specially assembled band to back Richard Thompson at Shrewsbury Folk Festival.
Described as "the finest English-style finger-picking guitarist of his generation" by Jon Boden (Remnant Kings, ex-Bellowhead), Sam has toured the world, equally happy to perform intimate solo shows on acoustic guitar, on electric with a full band, or to collaborate with other artists. Recent collaborations have included Sweet Liberties, an EFDSS and Folk By The Oak joint-funded project which saw Sam, Nancy Kerr, Maz O’Connor and Martyn Joseph delving into the archives of Parliament in search of inspiration for songs about the pursuit and development of democracy. Sweet Liberties toured major UK venues, spawned an album of the same name and featured on BBC Radio 3’s World On 3 in late 2016.
Sam’s third solo album How The City Sings was released in April 2016 and captured this fervently admired singer, songwriter and guitarist at his most passionate and moving, with The Guardian calling it a "bittersweet electric-folk concept album" in their glowing 4-star review .

Dark Side Of The Wall
This gig has been moved to 2/4/22
£10.00adv £12.00door
The ever-popular award winning ‘Dark Side Of The Wall’ return once again to present an evening of classic Pink Floyd music. Though originally from Coventry, the annual shows at The Musician have become the band’s ‘hometown’ gig now that there are three Leicester-based band members in the line-up.

One of those is the band’s long-serving bass player Steve Chilton says, “I always think that one of our great selling points is the fact that we love what we do. Live gigs should always be about that band and audience interaction. Admittedly, Pink Floyd’s music and persona is often perceived as quite serious but whilst we perform their music with the love and respect it deserves, we always bring our own personalities to the stage. This is definitely no ‘look-a-like’ tribute band and we’re proud of that. Who’d want to look like Pink Floyd anyway?”

In well over 2 hours of reverent tribute to their heroes DSOTW perform music from all Pink Floyd’s classic albums and feature tracks such as Comfortably Numb, Money, Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Another Brick In The Wall to name just a few. If you’ve seen Dark Side Of The Wall in concert before then you’ll know it’s a gig not to be missed as they bring their theatre show into the more intimate setting of the Musician.
