A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Dominic Goodchild
£7.00adv £9.00door
plus Bird In The Belly, Alex Harding and Peter Ingram
Doors 7:00pm
Beautifully eclectic bill. Peter Ingram will be on stage by 7:30pm.

Leicester bedroom anarchist Dom Goodchild The Void Starer is an outsider-punk of sorts. His music is a misanthropic spoken word stream of consciousness, as grotesquely compelling as a Francis Bacon painting, with the poetic despair-rage of Charles Bukowski post three-day bender.

This is the album launch a day before the official release (4th Feb) for 'Lloyd', that will be available on CD/Streaming Services, via GFM Records/Void Starer Records/Cargo Distribution.

Bird in the Belly is a collective is made up of solo artist Jinnwoo, folk duo Hickory Signals and instrumentalist Tom Pryor. Together they find songs and stories that have either never before been recorded or are rarely recorded - all set to contemporary folk music, in the hopes of reintroducing these songs back into the folk canon.

Unfortunately Echolocation are unable to play as Dan has Covid. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Peter Ingram will be performing a 10 minute spoken word piece and Alex Harding has stepped in at the last moment.

Romarna Campbell Trio
£12.00 / £5 NUS
Doors 7:30pm
Romarna Campbell is a drummer, composer and producer from Birmingham. Music is at the heart of everything that she does, with a particularly great Hip-Hop and Jazz influence. Music has allowed her to travel extensively and study at Berklee College of Music. She has also had the great honour and joy to perform worldwide with many people, including Courtney Pine, Billy Childs, Soweto Kinch and more, as well as lead her own projects with many of her peers and friends.

In Romarna's own words, "I have a theory that everyone has an instrument that matches their demeanour and personality. Playing the drums simply felt like a natural extension of me as a person and my personality. There is nothing quite like that feeling of absolutely finding that groove, that pocket, and just letting it simmer or the furious exchange of ideas in the middle of someone’s solo. For me, drumming is about being part of a collective group all aiming for a common goal."

"Music has allowed me to do and experience some pretty awesome things and I hope that you will continue to join me and support me in this beautiful journey."

The Unravelling Wilburys
Tribute to The Traveling Wilburys
£12.00adv £14.00door
Doors 7:30pm
This top tribute show is more than just a tribute - they are the complete package! Their great combination of brilliant musicianship and tongue in cheek humour has had rave reviews throughout the UK. Playing the country-rock songs of the Traveling Wilburys, the band also steal some choice numbers from its five iconic members; Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne.

The fabulous Unravelling Wilburys are made up of Sticky Willy, Walter, Thumper, Blind Melon and Honky Tonk Wilbury, the “real” Wilbury brothers, who grew up in an Appalachian shack and first presented their songs in Nashville back in 1987. The show tells the story of how their songs were (allegedly) stolen by Messrs Orbison & Co. at Nashville’s Tootsies Bar and the hard road they had to tread to get ‘em back. With a set list comprising of songs including ‘Handle With Care’ Tweeter And The Monkey Man’, ‘The Devil’s Been Busy’, ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Here Comes The Sun’, ‘Mr Blue Sky’, ‘Mr Tambourine Man’ and ‘American Girl’, this is a show not to be missed!
