A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Coming to The Musician in February 2021

Revised Opening Hours

7pm to 10pm

Unless otherwise advertised

Thu 11th Feb 2021
Martyn Joseph
Limited to 30 tickets - all seated table service
TWO SHOWS - 1st 5.30pm to 7.30pm 2nd 8pm to 10pm

Martyn Joseph is as performer like no other.
He has been called "The Welsh Springsteen", but there are also shades of John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews there may be – but he stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives.

Juxtaposition is a key theme in Martyn’s work. The simplicity and the complexity of the human condition and all that it encompasses is underpinned with a heady promise of hope. There is a versatility to Martyn’s music that is hard to categorise. Many have tried, resulting in labels such as Folk, Rock, Soul, Folk Funk and Americana; all of which somehow miss the mark. But sometimes music doesn’t need a defining genre and with the ability to articulate a sense of the bigger picture, Martyn’s music and social commentary manage to empower and speak for many. His songs are pictures, and stories, and feelings all put to music and delivered by a master craftsman.

"Springsteen-indebted Americana, suspended folk chords glistening beneath troubadour tales, his lyrical eloquence still inspired almost 30 years on from his debut." - MOJO

"One of the most charismatic and electrifying performers in Britain today... tough and passionate" - Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

Creedence Clearwater Review
£12.00adv £14.00door
Creedence Clearwater Review are the UK’s premier tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival, one of America’s greatest bands who, despite their relatively short career, left an enduring legacy of classic songs written and sung by lead guitarist, singer and songwriter John Fogerty. Capturing the feel, sound and atmosphere of the original songs, Creedence Clearwater Review pack all the hits and more into two hours plus of rootsy, swampy, bluesy and sometimes country flavoured rock and roll. Creedences’ biggest songs, Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son and Who’ll Stop The Rain all get the treatment as well as their covers of classics like I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Midnight Special and Susie Q.
There’s audience involvement, singalongs and plenty of rousing choruses to join in on the Review’s authentic and power packed tribute to the Creedence legacy. There’s also a nod to John Fogerty’s solo career in the show, with songs like Almost Saturday Night, Hot Rod Heart and of course Rockin’ All Over The World. Dale Taylor takes up the role of John Fogerty on guitar and vocals, which is no easy task considering Fogerty’s power and range. However he fulfils the lead spot, delivering the same rawness and energy of the original performances, backed up by a solid and experienced band who stick as closely to the album tracks as possible.
Performing a range of CCR material consisting of all their biggest, classic hits, album tracks and wonderful obscurities, Creedence Clearwater Review will take you on a nostalgia trip you won’t want to miss. Creedence Clearwater Review, the definitive UK tribute.

Section 25
Powerful, mesmerising and expressive. Perhaps the most maverick and enigmatic of the bands that were part of the now legendary Factory Records roster. Section 25 were formed in Poulton-le Fylde, Lancashire in 1977 by brothers Larry and Vin Cassidy. Their classic Northern Sound defines punk and electro in one. Having worked with Ian Curtis, Martin Hammett and Bernard Sumner on four Factory Albums they now continue to record for LTM. They pre-dated ambient, chillout and massive beats by a decade. Their explorations of hypnotic basslines, thrusting motorik drums and rusty colliding slabs of melody and feedback produce a truly unique and zen like sound.

Calling on long term friends Liam Slattery & Russ Millard the journey began, quickly adding drummer Kris Perrin & 3rd guitarist Paul Beddow the line up rehearsed for a few months before deciding to add the final layer of Ben Selleck on keys who finally completed the full live FOO FIGHTERS UK LINE UP.

In 2014 I was fortunate enough to be chosen by Sir Tom Jones as my mentor on 'The Voice UK'. On entering the competition my ambition had been to sing a duet with the superstar legend. Sir Tom took me on a fantastical journey through the stages of that competition and I reached the final and realised my dream.

I paid homage to this Knight of the Realm, on his special Birthday, by releasing a video on my YouTube channel of my own version of 'It's Not Unusual' - his 1965 breakthrough hit.

My version of ITS NOT UNUSUAL is now available as a download on iTunes and all download formats. To celebrate this I will be performing solo at my favourite hometown gig palace, the Musician, Leicester. Obviously, I will sing my version of ITS NOT UNUSUAL and also requests for songs from my career.
