A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Jason McNiff
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm
Songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist, Jason McNiff releases his 7th full length album, Dust Of Yesterday, on April 16th. Produced and engineered by Roger Askew (Joe Strummer, Wilko Johnson, Christy Moore) the album was recorded throughout the summer and autumn of 2020 in Roger's home studio in Eastbourne, UK. It features McNiff's signature acoustic guitar work throughout with significant contributions from Beth Porter (of Eliza Carthy's band) on cello and Basia Bartz (most London based folk bands) on violin.

His first album since leaving London - McNiff is now based in Hastings - Dust of Yesterday is an elegy on moving away from a beloved place and a lament for lost youth. We are treated to a musical tour of McNiff's life to date, from his 8-year residency as a Flamenco guitarist in a Spanish bar in Waterloo (Damaged Woman) to hopping the northbound train from King's Cross, hiding in the lavatory up to Nottingham (A Load Along). All the songs on Dust of Yesterday, in one way or another, speak of the past but it is far more than bleary-eyed nostalgia.

Doors 8:00pm
Ozric Tentacles are regarded as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s festival scene, forming during the solstice at Stonehenge Free Festival in 1983 and going on to become psychedelic staples at Glastonbury and other festivals. The creative vision of multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne, the Ozrics’ uniquely trippy soundscapes connect fans of progressive rock, psychedelia and dance music culture.

It's a signature blend of hippy aesthetics and raver electronics with spiraling guitars, textured waves of keyboards, midi, samplers, and super-groovy bass and drum rhythms. In the early 80s, “The Ozrics” (as they had become more commonly known) swiftly claimed their place as a staple of the UK's burgeoning festival scene, and are now credited as one of the influential musical linchpins of the scene's re-emergence.

Ozric Tentacles Electronic comprises Ed Wynne and Silas Neptune who will perform tracks from the extensive Ozric Tentacles catalogue as well as tracks from the most recent Ozrics album, Space For The Earth.

Doors 7:30pm
With 2016 marking the U.K. Subs’ 40th anniversary; this legendary punk band continues to represent the true spirit of punk rock. Inspired by the Damned at the birth of British Punk, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed the Subs out of his then R&B outfit The Marauders, late in 1976.

Starting out as The Subversives, the name was shortened to The Subs and then changed to U.K. Subs, whilst early line-ups merged their high-speed R&B sound into punk.

October 1977 saw Charlie joined by Nicky Garratt on guitar, and it was the Harper/Garratt song writing partnership that would go on to collaborate on the band's most successful record releases. Through 1977 and 1978 the band played shows all over London including the infamous Roxy punk club.

Terry Slesser, one of the country’s finest rock and blues vocalists, performing in tribute to his bandmate and friend the late, great Paul Kossoff - one of the greatest rock blues guitarists of all time. Celebrating Paul Kossoff’s entire career, the show features songs from his early days in FREE (including rock classics ALL RIGHT NOW, WISHING WELL, FIRE AND WATER etc.) through to songs from BACK STREET CRAWLER, the band Kossoff formed alongside Terry Slesser. Terry Slesser remains both a star and a master craftsman. As Paul Kossoff’s close friend and vocalist of choice, he has every right to sing every song performed by this band. Terry has assembled a great team of musicians to willingly assist him in keeping alive the memory of Paul Kossoff.

The band also features: John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, bassist with the world-famous Status Quo, Judie Tzuke, Dexy’s and Peter Green. Drummer Clive Edwards, whose resumé includes UFO, Wild Horses, Uli Jon Roth, Pat Travers. Guitarist John Buckton is relatively unknown in comparison to his band mates, but was recently reviewed as "one of the very best guitarists in British rock blues today, with a style that’s tasteful and subtle, yet which wails with true blues aggression". SIMON KIRKE himself has already said that were FREE ever to reform, John would be his choice. This is no two-bit collection of raggle-taggle pub-rock wannabes playing cover versions. This an authentic supergroup, and to all intents and purposes a direct continuation of BACK STREET CRAWLER.

The Cinelli Brothers is a project born out of a common passion for the electric Chicago and Texas blues from the 60s and 70s, when brothers Marco (guitarist and lead singer) and Alessandro (drummer) decided to form an explosive team showcasing original repertoire in the style of Chess, Stax and Motown. Joining the two brothers on stage, Enzo Strano on bass and Tom Julian-Jones on harmonica and guitar.

Their debut album Babe Please Set Your Alarm was recorded at the Soup Studio in London and the full live and analog recording was released in May 2018 on vinyl and digital format. The record went number 2 in the IBBA (Independent Blues Broadcasters' Association) in June 2018 and prompted features in Blues in Britain, Blues Matters, Classic Rock and other magazines, and a UK Blues Awards nomination for 'Blues Band Of The Year'.

Legendary radio and broadcaster David ‘Kid’ Jensen once played a different track from their album on six consecutive weeks of his United DJs radio show, naming them as his favourite blues outfit, and his favourite blues album in many years, and Music Republic Magazine nominated Marco Cinelli as 'Best Guitar Player of 2018'.

The Cinelli Brothers champion a new generation of passionate musicians sharing in the love of Blues, Soul, R&B and the true authentic sounds that have made the blues a cornerstone of music history.
