A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

As full time touring professional musicians, and massive Jam fans themselves, the band don’t “try to be” or “pretend to be” The Jam, but rather put on a performance from the heart and soul, drawing on all their memories, experiences and love of what was the country’s biggest band in their day.

Gigging up and down the UK at outdoor festivals, scooter rallies and some of the UK’s top tribute venues & events! The show also includes the only replica of Rick Bucklers ‘Great White’ drum kit & features their own brass section!……You won’t be disappointed!

Every effort is placed into reproducing the sound, arrangements and energy of a Jam gig. Those who saw The Jam live will remember the electricity, aggression, passion, and even fashion on stage, something not always prevalent in today’s world, but to The Jam’d, it is a passion, a mission, and an honour to play for fans of “the best band in the f#@*ing world!”

James Oliver Band
£10.00adv £12.00door
plus Dawson Smith (Acoustic)
James Oliver has already rubbed shoulders with many of the greats of the guitar firmament Albert Lee..Bill Kirchen..Greg Koch to name a few. Now, having recorded three vital, very contemporary albums with his band his old band, he is preparing to write a new chapter of not only his career but also Welsh music history.
His progress since forming Glas in early 2012 has been steady rather than spectacular with nearly 2000 gigs, playing every gig in the Valleys before expanding horizons beyond. See him on stage, though, and spectacular is very much the word. Little wonder the late, great Deke Leonard of Man/Iceberg fame was moved to say that ‘Speaking as a guitarist, James Oliver scares the hell out of me.’
Bill Kirchen says 'James Oliver is the real deal, a passionate roots rocker loaded with guitar firepower'.
As music business veterans will tell you, success is 10 per cent inspiration and 90 per cent perspiration. As he enters the next stage of his career, James Oliver has a track record that shows he will not allow an ounce of his talents to be wasted. And with new musicians to interact with, chances are the music in store will exhibit hitherto unheard dimensions to delight his growing army of fans. With his new album of original material set for release in 2020. James plays blues, rock a billy, rock and country…it’s all here in one explosive pickin’ package.

UK Subs
£16.00adv £18.00door
With 2016 marking the U.K. Subs’ 40th anniversary; this legendary punk band continues to represent the true spirit of punk rock. Inspired by the Damned at the birth of British Punk, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed the Subs out of his then R&B outfit The Marauders, late in 1976.
Starting out as The Subversives, the name was shortened to The Subs and then changed to U.K. Subs, whilst early line-ups merged their high-speed R&B sound into punk.
October 1977 saw Charlie joined by Nicky Garratt on guitar, and it was the Harper/Garratt song writing partnership that would go on to collaborate on the band's most successful record releases. Through 1977 and 1978 the band played shows all over London including the infamous Roxy punk club.

Hodges is a man who knows how to rock and his live shows are famous for their excitement, intensity and power. He was a wild child who fused rock ’n’ roll aggression with country roots and getting on for forty years later he still is and he’s doing it as well as ever. As he says himself, Americana on a stool it ain’t, but some of the best rock ’n’ roll you’ll see it surely is. With Ben Marsden (guitar), Jason Knight (bass) and John Powney (drums), Warner has a band capable of running Black Sabbath into Merle Haggard and back out into AC/DC.

Marisa and the Moths
£10.00adv £12.00door
plus Finding Kate, Izzy Thomas and Loz Campbell
Doors 7:30pm - 11:55pm
‘Cute band name’, you say? Trust us: there’s nothing moth-like about these guys. Expect sharp, chunky modern hard rock all mixed up with the grungy goodness of the 90s which makes you think of Halestorm, Foo Fighters, alongside the femme power of Deap Vally and PJ Harvey.

Marisa And The Moths are a new alt-rock band on the scene, supercharged with an outstanding stage presence and filthy, gritty sound.

Since their debut in 2019 with Skin, they've already rapidly garnered a following which continues to grow at pace. Formed by Marisa Rodriguez & based in Reading, The Moths have been on Kerrang ‘Fresh Blood’ as Artist of the week, have had a feature in Classic Rock Magazine 269 and even featured on the cover CD. The band have already completed their first two UK headline tours, selling out 100-300 capacity venues across the UK.
Despite adversity, Marisa And The Moths have kept their buzz alive and growing throughout the trials and tribulations of 2020, hosting livestream events, releasing a deluxe edition of their debut self-titled album, multiple music videos, and building hype for their 2nd album in the making.

The Platforms
£10.00adv £12.00door
The Platforms played the UK music scene for over 18 years and were one of Leicester’s most loved show bands. The music was based around the glam era but The Platforms took it to a new level, adding well known classic rock and modern hits into the mix. They regularly played show spots at holiday parks around the UK and headline festivals up and down the country in the summer. They’ve helped the mayor switch on Leicester’s Christmas lights four times and played for Heart FM, BBC Radio Leicester and appeared on TV too.

Here we are in 2019 and after 5 years away we thought it was time to bring back the Glam, bring back the show and bring back the night to remember. We are back..

Diesel Park West
£15.00adv £17.00door
plus support
Doors 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Diesel Park West are for many people the most enigmatic band from the late eighties still performing today. Back in those Thatcherite days the psychedelic guitar ground they occupied was often dismissed as a mere throwback to the mid-sixties with only an enlightened minority realising its real musical significance. The beating heart of rock ‘n’ roll is now far more aware of the Diesels' sound and maybe that’s why any live performance by the band is considered an event worth seeing. Drawing upon eight albums worth of material and the hippest cover versions imaginable, Diesel Park West continue to prove beyond a doubt that they really are the torchbearers for an entire genre.
