A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Mishra
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Mishra are a global folk collective with strong roots in U.K folk, out of which they weave a tight web of intricate, Indian-influenced original music that defies definition and has already brought awards recognition since their formation in 2017. Kate Griffin (The Magpies) and Ford Collier (BBC R2 Folk Award nominated The Drystones) are the songwriting partnership behind Mishra, drawing on their unique base of influences that encompasses folk music of the UK and America, Indian classical music, and soul to create a surprisingly accessible sound that audiences instantly connect to. Between the two of them, Kate and Ford create a rich texture from their array of instruments: Irish low whistle, banjo, Indian tabla, dobro, African calabash, and guitar, all of which provide a vibrant backdrop to Kate’s striking vocals. Kate and Ford are joined by renowned tabla player John Ball (Rafiki Jazz, Indus), jazz-folk double bassist Joss Mann-Hazell, and musicians from the Sheffield folk, world, and jazz scenes. Constant collaborations with different members of their collective inspires Mishra to make each performance unique.

"Fascinating stuff... I'm really enjoying Mishra's blend" Mark Radcliffe, BBC Radio 2

“An airborne amalgam of cross-continental pollinations … More servings please” Tim Cummings, Songlines Magazine

"Brilliantly executed Americana and folk mixed with Indian music... Lovely sound, beautifully sung… Gosh that’s tasty!“

Doors 8:00pm - 11:30pm
Damian Wilson is an English musician, songwriter and vocalist who has appeared on over 70 separate album releases.
He’s known for his exploration into different genres and is considered one of the most versatile singers in rock. Open to whatever crosses his path, he’s had an adventurous career over the last 30 years. To this day he has released 6 solo albums and also 3 albums as a duo with Adam Wakeman.
Damian balances his solo career as a singer-songwriter with being an energetic frontman for rock bands and guest vocalist. He has toured all over the world fronting bands such as Rick Wakeman’s ERE and Threshold (which has unfortunately left him with permanent eye damage, but his hearing is still perfect).
He has performed on the most prominent stages in the UK, during his 2-year tenure as the lead in Les Misérables and supporting tours as diverse as Tony Hadley and Ozzy Osbourne. He doesn’t act in musical theatre these days, but he did stab David Rizzio in the 2018 film ‘Mary Queen of Scots’.
Damian’s live performances are characterized by his heartfelt voice and connection to the audience; whether he’s singing at the club down the road or at the Royal Albert Hall.
He will use every opportunity he gets to stage dive, even at seated shows...be warned....

The Watch
£12.00adv £15.00door
Doors 8:00pm - 11:30pm
THE WATCH is a 5 piece band from Milan. Their music is inspired by classic 70’s style prog-rock. The first album is called “Ghost” released in 2001, than followed “Vacuum” in 2004 and “Primitive” in 2007. Check the discography section to get some musical excerpts from each album. In 2009 the band released its first live album “The Watch live”. Melodies and energy are the main features of The Watch music and live performances are one the strongest characteristics of the band, all the band’s energy and inspiration come out expressly when on stage, where it clearly appears how much they believe in what they do. The line up has changed several times through the years, only Simone Rossetti, founder and composer of the band is still there from the very beginning… according to Simone’s words nowadays the band has the best line up ever !

From 2009 The Watch are bringing on stage shows focused on Genesis albums with the attempt of blending great Genesis classic albums from the 70ies with their own music. Counting on Simone’s voice similarity to Peter Gabriel’s one, this formula has worked very well and allowed the band to play in big stages, widening their audience and growing in number of fans. Now The Watch are considered one of the most representative bands on the actual prog scene worldwide and an example of what could have become prog-rock music if big prog rock names of the 70ies hadn’t split or changed style of music, evolving from the 70ies to nowdays.

In 2010 the band released “Planet Earth” and in 2011 “Timeless” a celebration of some very early days Genesis tunes adding of course some original music too.

After that the band released a new album on february 2014, called “Tracks from the Alps” and from march 2014 on they went on tour all over Europe wide adding some gigs in Canada

The Watch announced their seventh studio album “Seven” in May 2017, with a brilliant special guest, Mr Steve Hackett.
Tonight the band will perform classic Genesis songs from the Gabriel years plus mid 70's Collins era.

DIIO
£10.00adv £12.00door
DIIO (pronounced D-2-O) are the ultimate tribute to the Master Of Metal, Ronnie James Dio. The idea for DIIO goes back a few years to a gig on Rhodes with Hi-On Maiden and Sack Sabbath and a long standing friendship between Matt Duggan (Ronnie) and Russ Saxton (Vivian), coupled with a mutual admiration of the immortal RJD.

One drunken evening in the summer of 2016, the plan was cemented and with the addition of Tony Clark (Jimmy) and Pete Mather (Vinnie) on bass and drums and the ultimate DIIO tribute was born. All four members are veterans of the tribute circuit and have played (and still play) in some of the most respected outfits in the UK.

As well as all the classics from RJD's solo career, DIIO also plays the very best cuts from his time in Rainbow and Black Sabbath. Expect to hear classics including Holy Diver, Don't Talk To Strangers, Heaven and Hell, Neon Knights, Stargazer, Kill The King and many, many more all delivered with a precision and attention to detail that is second to none.

Allman Betts Band
£20.00adv £25.00door
The Musician Presents:
( This special gig is taking place at The International Arts Centre, promoted by The Musician)

In December of 2017, Devon Allman was ready. After a year of mourning the losses of his mother and father, Allman was ready to make music again. He deeply appreciated all of the condolences and well-wishes, but, respectfully, it was time to forge ahead.

Allman organized a concert at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco to honor the music and memory of his father, founding Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and singer, Gregg Allman, and also to debut his new band, The Devon Allman Project. A proverbial star-studded affair- with guests such as G. Love and Robert Randolph- the marathon performance also marked the beginning of a partnership with Duane Betts, son of founding Allman Brothers Band guitarist and singer, Dickey Betts. It was time, in that historic venue, to pass the spirt to this next generation. It was time to take all the lessons of the past, all their collective experiences, and make something new.

Betts recently had turned solo after a touring stint with folk-rockers Dawes, and would serve as an opening artist on the Devon Allman Project 2018 world tour, as well as joining Allman each night for a musical tip of the hat to their respective fathers. The year-long trek was the first to pair Allman and Betts, and saw the two tally nearly 100 dates at theatres and festivals nationally and internationally, including a summer leg in Europe, and notable appearances at Colorado’s venerable Red Rocks amphitheater, the Peach Festival, Gov’t Mule’s Island Exodus in Jamaica, and a return to The Fillmore for the second annual, sold-out Allman Family Revival.

2018 provided them a certifiable proof-of-concept: Performing a repertoire gleaned mostly from their respective solo careers, as well as a handful of Brothers gems, the Devon Allman Project with Duane Betts consistently drew audiences growing in size and enthusiasm with each successive leg.

Now, they were both determined to embrace a new challenge; to write and record new music that could someday join the classics; to wow new audiences; to form a new band. During off-days on the bus or in hotel rooms, Devon and Duane collaborated on new original material, inviting respected songwriter Stoll Vaughn for writing sessions on the road.

Fleetingwood Mac
£11.00adv
We are Fleetingwood Mac, a young and exciting new tribute to the legendary band Fleetwood Mac.
We didn’t just want to be  another tribute band, with tacky wigs and fancy dress outfits. Instead we wanted to bring across the live sound of Fleetwood Mac, with just one guitar, a keyboard, a drum kit, a man on the bass and of course, the vocals!
As much as we aim to create a genuine Fleetwood Mac sound, we can’t help but give it a modern edge, it’s just the way we play. How else are five people supposed to play tribute to a band that have lasted nearly 50 years?
A band who have over time have featured eight different Guitarists & Vocalists. A band that tour arenas all over the world, with six extra touring musicians. A band that started out as part of the sixties British Blues Invasion and ended up as one of the biggest mainstream groups of the eighties. Let’s not even get into the scandals, relationships and excesses……
We work hard in rehearsals to get the details right and do justice to some classic songs that play
a huge part in many people’s lives.
We also want to introduce the songs to a new generation of Fleetwood Mac fans, who just like ourselves, weren’t even born when the band were in their prime. We do not go on stage pretending to be Fleetwood Mac, instead we go on as who we are, five young musicians who love the music, and want to share the music of one of the worlds greatest bands to a wider  audience.

Heavy, but with a lot of room for dynamics and atmosphere. A raw, pure, dark sound with emotion as its center. Lesoir's set goes from fragility and whispering, to chaos and heavy sounds, without losing the melody of each song.
Lesoir is no longer a stranger to the Dutch progressive rock landscape and has even been successful in China. The art rock band is influenced by Anathema, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson and The Gathering. Lesoir features two fabulous front ladies.
Lesoir was founded in 2010 and released its debut album one year later. In the meantime, the band has four albums to its name. Their second album “Transience” was produced by John Cornfield and mastered by Brian Lucey (The Last Shadow Puppets). Their third album “Luctor Et Emergo” was recorded at the British Airfield Studio (Elton John, War Of The World). Lesoir has in recent years performed with bands like The Gentle Storm, Delain, Evergrey, The Pineapple Thief and Within Temptation. The band was also featured at festivals like Night Of The Prog, IO Pages Festival and Midsummer Prog Festival. The new album is produced by John Cornfield (Muse) and Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief) and released on the German quality label Gentle Art Of Music. Lesoir just got back from 5 weeks of touring through Europe as special guest of Riverside.
Tiger Moth Tales features Peter Jones solo outing as support. Singer and keyboard player with Camel, Red Bazar and of course Tiger Moth Tales in this stripped down version. Peter's forthcoming new album should be released at the time of this performance.

Compositions are soulful, varied, epic and utterly glorious in their musicality. This underrated guitarist (Dave Bainbridge) delivers a moment of musical Zen that is as good as anything you have heard from a Rothery, Rabin, Gilmour or Howe. Take a bow, Mr Bainbridge – you have made the angels sob in the best possible way.
