A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

OK Cane
£5.00
Doors 7:00pm
OK Cane are a newly formed three-piece band of young musicians. Playing at a level of musicianship well beyond their years, they focus mainly on their own material which is influenced by many different bands and genres – from the Smiths, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, The Stone Roses, The Housemartins and many more.

Lead singer, songwriter and all-round guitarist, Harrison Gent has been around the Leicester music scene for some years already, yet he’s still only 15 yrs old. He sings his well-crafted songs with passion and maturity and this exceptional band of youngsters (Kian Sutton on drums and Joe Chapman on Bass Guitar) play like they’ve been together for years.

After their very first gig in Birmingham (just a few weeks ago), the promotion company were so impressed that they immediately booked them for a further 3 dates (with more to follow). Passionate and hungry for success, they are reaching for the stars, make sure you are able to say that you saw them first!

Doors 8:00pm
Mishra are a global folk collective with strong roots in U.K folk, out of which they weave a tight web of intricate, Indian-influenced original music that defies definition and has already brought awards recognition since their formation in 2017. Kate Griffin (The Magpies) and Ford Collier (BBC R2 Folk Award nominated The Drystones) are the songwriting partnership behind Mishra, drawing on their unique base of influences that encompasses folk music of the UK and America, Indian classical music, and soul to create a surprisingly accessible sound that audiences instantly connect to. Between the two of them, Kate and Ford create a rich texture from their array of instruments: Irish low whistle, banjo, Indian tabla, dobro, African calabash, and guitar, all of which provide a vibrant backdrop to Kate’s striking vocals. Kate and Ford are joined by renowned tabla player John Ball (Rafiki Jazz, Indus), jazz-folk double bassist Joss Mann-Hazell, and musicians from the Sheffield folk, world, and jazz scenes. Constant collaborations with different members of their collective inspires Mishra to make each performance unique.

**Unfortunately the Achievers have been forced to pull out of tonight's show due to illness. As a result, the Della Grants will now be headlining**

The Della Grants are, above anything else, a group of close friends. Max Manning and Tom Best front the band on stage; sharing out the vocal, guitar, and harmonica duties. The band’s rhythm section (now in its twenty-first year) consists of Andy Boulton on bass and Tom Walker on drums. When it comes to song-writing and arrangement (something the band prides itself on) all members are included throughout the process – although having said that, more often than not it’s Manning who proves to be the catalyst.

Since 2017, the band have been frequently joined on stage by highly accomplished musician and good friend Tony Robinson; who provides organ, piano and trumpet. Over the years Tony has worked with a number of popular artists including The Beautiful South, The Specials, and The Manic Street Preachers.

The Della Grants' latest album ‘On The Other Side’ (2021) cleverly bridges the gaps between blues, rock, and Americana, and features some of the band’s greatest material to date.

The Watch are a 5-piece progressive rock band from Milan, founded by Simone Rosetti. Since their debut album 'Ghost' in 2001, the band's own original music has been characterised by melody and energy and despite several line-up changes over the years, have gone from strength to strength with Simone stating that the current line-up is the strongest the band have ever been. On stage is where The Watch come into their own, with their expressive and creative live performances.

From 2009, the band began performing stage shows focussed on classic 70s Genesis albums, occasionally blended with their own material, originally with the idea of widening their audience and allowing them to play bigger stages. This formula has been more than successful, owing in no small part to Simone’s vocal similarities to Peter Gabriel. Indeed, in 2017, their 7th studio album 'Seven' featured a guest appearance from none other than ex-Genesis legend Steve Hackett. Their talent and meticulous approach to performing have gained the band a considerable following both here in the UK and across Europe and it is no exaggeration to say that the band are one of the most respected on the progressive circuit today.

Tonight the band will perform classic Genesis songs from the Gabriel years plus mid 70's Collins era.

Fleetingwood Mac are a young and exciting new tribute to the legendary band Fleetwood Mac. They didn’t set out to be yet another tribute band, with tacky wigs and fancy dress outfits, but instead bring across the live sound of Fleetwood Mac, with just one guitar, a keyboard, a drum kit, a man on the bass and of course, the vocals!

As much as they aim to create a genuine Fleetwood Mac sound, they can’t help but give it a modern edge, it’s just the way they play. How else are five people supposed to play tribute to a band that have lasted nearly 50 years? A band who over time have featured eight different guitarists & vocalists. A band that started out as part of the sixties British Blues Invasion and ended up as one of the biggest mainstream groups of the eighties.

The band aim to introduce the songs to a new generation of fans, who just like themselves, weren’t even born when the band were in their prime. They don’t go on stage pretending to be Fleetwood Mac, instead as five young musicians who love and want to share the music of one of the world's greatest bands to a wider audience.

The Heretic Order are inspired by tales of horror - both fictional and factual - and a love for bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, King Diamond and Mercyful Fate. They have built a dedicated following of their own in busy UK and European metal scenes thanks to two critically acclaimed albums and consistently high quality live performances, where they enhance their chilling stories with visually striking theatrics.

With 5 albums and various EPs under their belt, Die Kur are an Industrial Metal band based in London.

Lifesigns are an independent UK based band consisting of pedigree musicians at the top of their game. Their 2017 album 'Cardington' got to number 4 in the UK Indie chart without so much as a play on mainstream radio. 2020's Altitude was crowdfunded by dedicated fans in 40 countries worldwide and has been compared to everything from Steely Dan to Pink Floyd to U.K.

In their own words:

We members all have track records playing with bands ranging from Asia and the Scorpions through to pop icons like Bonnie Tyler and even Quincy Jones. We are were number 1 (for 5 weeks) on the gagliarchives chart in the USA above Transatlantic, DBA, Steve Hackett, Steven Wilson and many more. We received 10/10 in a recent review in Holland but we have so much more to give, being a mixture of pop, prog and jazz fusion."

Their current line-up consists of John Young (Asia, Scorpions, Bonnie Tyler) on vocals and keys, Dave Bainbridge (Iona, Strawbs) on guitar and keys, Jon Poole (Cardiacs, Dr Hook) on bass and b.vox, Zoltan Czorsz (Flower Kings, Quincy Jones, Stu Hamm) on drums not to mention soundman/producer Steve Rispin (Yes, Asia).

Working as a solo artist for 5 years, Homeless Shakespeare created The Pigeon Theatre for the launch gig of genre-mashing album WAVES in December 2017, and has since developed the ‘gyp-hop’ sound; a tasteful cocktail of blues, funk, rock, gypsy-swing and rap. September 2018 marked the release of the band’s first EP, Caravan O’Funk.

Since the start of 2018, The Pigeon Theatre has matured into a hard-hitting ensemble, so distinctively unique that its audacity is enough to work any audience. Punky, funky, ballsy and romantic. The dynamic live performances involve engaging musical characteristics and stage banter (including jokes) that offers that personal touch.

Between Homeless Shakespeare and the band, a diverse range of performances and venues have been scooped under the belt, including a variety of charity events (supporting issues particularly close to the band, including homelessness, poverty and mental health), Arts Council Performances (Emerge Festival, South Holland Centre, Spalding 2017), festivals (Barefoot Festival 2017), and support slots including Undercover Hippy, The Brandy Thieves, Siobhan Mazzei, Robert J Hunter Band, and more.
