A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musicianlive2 at gmail.com once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Fred Zeppelin are real fans and formed ‘The Fredz’ out
of their admiration and love of Led Zeppelin’s music.
As their name suggests the band don't take
themselves too seriously, they know the praise
belongs to Robert, Jimmy, John Paul Jones,
and Bonzo. And, the Fredz will still continue
with their tradition of honouring the music of

Led Zeppelin and not dressing up to imitate
them. Please keep in mind they are not a
cabaret style look-a-like act.
Last year they celebrated 30 years together

Stevie Jones and The Wildfires are a well-established Northamptonshire based independent 4 piece touching genres as wide as Americana, Prog and Alternative Rock centred around powerful acoustic-based songwriting. At this special event they release their 4th album ‘Getting There’ which again was recorded at Deadline Studios with producer Adam Ellis. It takes them in a slightly new introspective songwriting direction covering romance, heartbreak, anxiety and recovery and includes two covers by The Waterboys and City and Colour. It will be an exclusive chance to hear the new material performed live and get hold of CD copies of the 9 track album which won’t be available for streaming until the autumn.

The Strange Doors

Doors 7:30pm - 11:30pm
Good news they are back !

The Strange Doors are a Doors tribute band that takes you back in time by recreating the sights and sounds of the legends you know and love. This band doesn’t just replicate the studio versions of Doors classics; we actually recreate the live Doors experience. Here you will find ad-libbed poetry, a singer that jumps into the air and writhes on the floor (whilst conjuring the Lizard King with his rich baritone voice), jazzy organ solos, bluesy slide guitar and powerful, yet subtle drumming that punctuates the music and vocals. Like a gig by the real Doors, a Strange Doors gig has an air of unpredictability... audiences are kept guessing what to expect next. The atmosphere is charged with the darkness and feeling of menace that only Doors music can provide.

The Strange Doors will take you on a journey into the severed garden... fires will be lit and lizards will be celebrated!

The John Otway Big Band
£18.00adv £20.00door
Doors 7:30pm
In a world dominated by music-by-committee, formulaic meaningless nonsense and fabricated beats, thank heaven for John Otway.

It’s Otway on steroids if you can imagine that. Otway with ROCK. All the hits and more but with other just-as-nutty musicians to bounce off. You’ll leave this show with an aching jaw from laughter and a sore throat from singing along. And joy in your heart that such a show can even exist in this day and age.

This show will feature a rare chance to see John perform many of his popular songs from his career with the full Otway Big Band.

Julian Taylor
£17.00adv £20.00door
Doors 7:30pm
Toronto-based singer-songwriter Julian Taylor has been part of the musical fabric and landscape in Canada for over two decades. Taylor enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2020, when his second solo acoustic album, The Ridge, earned million plays on Spotify, praise from press worldwide, and airplay from America to Australia to the U.K. Loaded with soulful Americana and country twang, the album was produced by Taylor himself and Saam Hashemi, and was recorded at The Woodshed in Toronto. In addition to winning Taylor Solo Artist of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, The Ridge was also nominated for: two Juno Awards (Contemporary Folk Album of The Year, Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year), the Polaris Prize Long List, a Summer Solstice Indigenous Award (Contemporary Folk Album of the Year), a Canadian Music Week INDIES Award (Indigenous Artist of the Year), and an additional Canadian Folk Music Awards nomination in the English Songwriter of the Year category. The nominations and awards kept coming in 2022, with Taylor winning best male artist in the International Acoustic Music Awards, and scoring five Native American Music Award nominations. He has charted on several Canadian Radio and Indigenous Music Charts.

Taylor, of combined Mohawk and Caribbean ancestry, is a major label veteran, Toronto music scene staple, and musical chameleon. His versatility as a songwriter is signature; one minute he’s onstage playing with his band spilling out electrified rhythm and blues glory, and the next he’s featured at a folk festival delivering a captivating solo singer-songwriter set. Formerly associated with the band Staggered Crossing, he has continued to record and perform as a solo artist and has released twelve studio albums since 2001. With his songs being placed in such TV shows as “Haven,” “Private Eyes,” “Kim’s Convenience,” “Degrassi: The Next Generation,” and “Elementary.”
