A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Luke is a Singer-Songwriter from Canterbury, Kent, who in 2013 was nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for both the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and The Young Folk Category. He was also winner of Fatea’s “Male Artist of the Year 2014” and 2016.
Over the past few years he has steadily been developing a reputation for himself in the Folk & Roots circuits either through his solo shows, many festival appearances or when opening for such luminaries as Fairport Convention, Show of Hands, Steve Knightley, Martyn Joseph, Seth Lakeman, Karine Polwart, Oysterband, Paul Brady, Glen Tilbrook and Sarah Jarosz .
As well as playing solo, Luke also performs as a Duo or Trio. In addition to the UK, he regularly tours across Europe playing in France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany and in 2016 and 2017 visited the USA to play at the International Folk Alliance conference in Kansas. Luke has completed several joint headline tours with Grammy Award winning songwriter Amy Wadge, with Folk Award winning duo Greg Russel and Ciaran Algar and American singer-songwriter Rebecca Loebe.
His debut album ‘More Than Boys’, produced by the acclaimed Welsh Singer-Songwriter Martyn Joseph, was released in 2012 to great reviews, as was the follow up ‘Fumes and Faith’ in early 2014. In 2015 he released a 7 track EP with his trio, ‘This Family Tree’, which was described in a 5 star Maverick review as ”Two words. Bloody brilliant” and it further reflected his development as both a writer and performer
November 2016 saw the release of Luke’s 3rd full studio album, “Tall Tales and Rumours” to universal critical acclaim, which Maverick, in a 5 star review, described as “a brilliant, thoughtful album – Jackson shows talent beyond his years”. Whilst Acoustic Magazine noted “Jackson has been compared to a young Richard Thompson and for once these are not empty words”

I'm drawing on the urgency of the moment,' reflects Grant-Lee Phillips. 'The things that eat away in the late hours...' That urgency inspired the headlong rush of Widdershins, in which Phillips invests the insight, nuance, and wit that has distinguished his songcraft over the past three decades in a riveting dissection of today's fraught social landscape. With more than two decades' experience first as frontman of the acclaimed Grant Lee Buffalo then and accomplished solo artist, Phillips awakens comfort and hope by shining light into darker corners. 'I hope to express my faith in people, my faith in the good ideas we're capable of, and that regardless of what opposition we face, the fact that we can surmount these things,' he concludes.

The Small Fakers Stripped Back
New date TBC
£10.00adv
Two shows - Limited to 30 capacity all seated table service.
1st show - 5.30pm to 7.30pm
2nd show - 8pm to 10pm

The Small Fakers were officially launched on a chilly night in February 2007 at a central London shindig attended by fans and associates of the East End's very own fab four, the seminal, sensational Small Faces.

The buzz in the audience that night was intense. Could the SMALL FAKERS even hope to come close to replicating the sound, and the look, of the Small Faces?

Cut to the end of the night and the band have ripped through twenty classic tracks, from Whatcha Gonna Do About It to Tin Soldier with effortless style and swagger, and the audience is almost delerious with excitement, and satisfaction. The Fakers have delivered the goods.
