A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management.

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are travelling any distance.

A guide for Artists and Promoters

The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Duran UK
£10.00adv £12.00door
For over a decade DURAN have maintained their reputation as one of the world’s most respected Duran Duran tribute bands, extensively touring across the UK, playing for clients including Butlins, Pontins, Warner Leisure Breaks, Chicago Rock Cafe, Grosvenor Casinos, Glastonbudget and Tribfest, and featuring on ITV and BBC Radio.
Performing close to 2 hours of hits and fan favourites, DURAN pride themselves on the faithful reproduction of the variety of musical styles and sounds Duran Duran have brought to the world of music throughout their 40 year career. The repertoire encompasses the band’s early hits in the 80’s - Planet Earth, Hungry Like The Wolf, Rio and The Wild Boys – together with their Ivor Novello award-winning 90’s comeback single, Ordinary World, and tracks from their critically acclaimed 2015 album, Paper Gods, where Duran Duran were reunited with former producer and friend, Nile Rodgers, and with Mark Ronson.

DURAN authentically reproduce the sounds and music of this influential global act. The band also delivers the showmanship, raw energy and charisma of Birmingham’s original ‘Fab 5’. And it’s their attention to detail that sets DURAN apart from the rest!

In 2017, after a brief break, DURAN hit the floor running with new frontman Pete Wood, finishing the year with a run of 3 formidable live shows, quickly winning fan-approval of the new line-up and further enhancing what was already a rock-solid show.

DURAN guarantees audiences a night to remember, pleasing not only the most fanatical of Durannies, but anyone who just loves music!

Cup O'Joe
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Cup O’Joe is a close family trio who have been playing together from their early teens. They were raised in the traditions of bluegrass and folk and it is these traditions that their music is rooted in. They blend the intricate tones of bluegrass, folk and jazz to tones to create their own progressive acoustic sound. Their mix of original and re-imagined traditional songs sets the ingredients for an energetic and enthusiastic performance, and this is giving them a growing presence on the surrounding acoustic music scene in Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe. Strong sibling harmonies can be heard throughout their music, harmonies that blend together like only sibling harmonies can.

The former Radio 2 Young Folk Award Finalists have toured extensively through Ireland, England and Central Europe over the years. In 2017 they were selected to take part in the Bluegrass Ramble at the International Bluegrass Associations weeklong conference and festival in Raleigh, North Carolina, being along some of the first International bands to do so.

They are set to release their new album in January 2020, which contains nine new original songs and one traditional, whilst embodying a fresh original sound. For several tracks they are joined on mandolin by David Benedict (Mile Twelve), and on fiddle by Niall Murphy (Breaking Trad, Cara Dillon, Nathan Carter) as well as many more special guests.

"They make a truly gorgeous sound and play with such intuition as only a family can do.”
Cara Dillon

£5.00adv £6.00door
plus Stephen Tanner & The Runaways, Saboteurs and Matt Keneson
Following in the footsteps of Steve Earle and The Dukes or Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Stevie Jones and The Wildfires deliver their own unique blend of modern alternative rock centred around powerful acoustic-based songwriting. They have released two studio albums receiving favourable reviews and airplay including BBC Introducing, Planet Rock and BBC Radio Scotland. The debut ‘Stratigraphic Heart’ was recorded at Parlour Studios in Kettering with acclaimed producers Russ Russell and Neil Haynes and featured Marshall Gill from Blackballed/New Model Army. The follow up 'Angels and Sirens‘ released in 2018 was produced by Adam Ellis at Deadline Studios, Leicester and featured LA guitarist Janet Robin (String Revolution, Lindsay Buckingham Band) and top Leicester harp player Sean Clutterham. The songs are split between hard-edged guitar based songs and more delicate acoustic arrangements touching tales of everything from archaeology, sex, love, politics and life in the music industry. Live their show is full of energy, edge and passion and they are just as happy in a small club or gracing larger stages. 2019 saw the release of a live EP and a busy gigging schedule which included a well-received slot at HRH Crows Festival at O2 Academy, Sheffield. Plans for 2020 include working on new material for a full band album and a acoustic solo EP.

Strange Doors
£10.00adv £12.00door
Doors 8:00pm - 11:30pm
We are a Doors tribute band that takes you back in time by recreating the sights and sounds of the legends you know and love. This band doesn’t just replicate the studio versions of Doors classics; we actually recreate the live Doors experience. Here you will find ad-libbed poetry, a singer that jumps into the air and writhes on the floor (whilst conjuring the Lizard King with his rich baritone voice), jazzy organ solos, bluesy slide guitar and powerful, yet subtle drumming that punctuates the music and vocals. Like a gig by the real Doors, a Strange Doors gig has an air of unpredictability... audiences are kept guessing what to expect next. The atmosphere is charged with the darkness and feeling of menace that only Doors music can provide. The Strange Doors will take you on a journey into the severed garden... fires will be lit and lizards will be celebrated!

Ariel Posen
£15.00adv £15.00door
Singer/songwriter. Internationally-renowned guitarist. Producer. Solo artist. A lifelong musician, there are few roles Ariel Posen hasn't played.

Although born in Winnipeg, Posen spent much of his childhood on the road, traveling from show to show with his musician parents. He began playing guitar at 9 years old, kicking off a career that eventually found him traveling the globe for his own gigs, including shows as a member of the Juno Award winning, roots-rock band The Bros. Landreth. Several years later, Posen began working on an album of his own, tracking his new songs in the same studio in which his parents once recorded their albums.

How Long marks Posen's long-awaited solo debut, showcasing not only his chops as an instrumentalist, but his talents as a diverse songwriter, too. The record casts a wide net, moving from rootsy blues to R&B to melodic rock & roll. A co-writer and producer for artists of all genres, Posen shows the full range of his talents on these 10 tracks, nodding to his influences — including The Beatles and many more — along the way. How Long is not a guitar record, although there's certainly plenty of guitar to be heard here. Instead, it's a song record, filled with hooks, autobiographical lyrics, and Posen's compelling voice.

"The guitar is the tool to get the music out," he says. "Always serve the song first. Otherwise, you're just playing an instrument.”
