These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
A guide for Artists and Promoters
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

Paper Aeroplanes is a girl and a boy from Westest Wales, now based in the capital of Wales and the capital of England. They make melancholic-tinged acoustic music centred around distinctive vocals. Record of the day called their debut The Day we ran into the Sea : “a confident collection of commercial pop gems.” After early spot plays and a successful Bob Harris session on Radio 2, Paper Aeroplanes’ third single, Not as Old, was recently been added to the R2 playlist.

Iona is a British-based band whose lyrics focus on the roots of Christianity in the British Isles, and whose musical style, even if the band do not like being labelled, is a blend of Celtic pop, rock and new age, often compared to that of Clannad, Enya, Kate Bush, Yes, and Peter Gabriel. 20 years ago, it might have been called "progressive rock".

Slipnot have seriously done their homework in producing a likeness to Slipknot not only in image but also in mannerisms, inter-band relationships and interaction on stage, with considered and considerable audience participation. The masks likeness is unbelievable as indeed is the ability for the whole band to perform with such energy in them all night. Musically Slipnot are technically sound and present a really accurate likeness to Slipknot.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich is an English singer-songwriter from York. Leftwich began playing at the age of ten and grew up listening to The Rolling Stones and Nina Simone; later discovering Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, and Elliott Smith. He cites Arcade Fire, Ryan Adams, and Bruce Springsteen as inspirations.

Chris Sherburn and Denny Bartley have been bringing their unique sound to audiences across Europe and America since the early 1990s, when a chance meeting at a music session created one of folk music's most enduring partnerships. Known for their soul stirring songs, exhilarating tunes and a love of the craic, Chris (concertina) and Denny (guitar and vocals) ensure that no two concerts are ever the same. Chris grew up surrounded by folk music of all kinds - his home was a regular haunt for passing folk singers and musicians. Denny, born in Co. Limerick, is drawn to the inheritance of age-old slides, slow airs, slip jigs and wild reels. Founder members of the band Last Night's Fun which received international acclaim and a loyal fan base over 11 years together, they have now returned to their roots as a duo.

Ever since bulldozing his way onto the scene with unforgettable tracks like ‘Cuddly Toy’ and ‘Family Man’ in the late 80s, Andrew Roachford’s maverick take on music has spread far and wide. As the first artist to sign a staggering seven-album deal with Columbia Records, it heralded the beginning of something big. “Getting signed and being a black British artist gave me a sense of pride” enthuses Andrew. Andrew was Columbia’s biggest selling domestic act for over ten years. As if any more proof were needed, the fact that Andrew Roachford has been approached by such luminaries as Michael Jackson and Chaka Khan to write songs, speaks volumes.

Ferrio's previous band, Tandy, was created in 1998. Tandy toured the Western world and received raves in publications such as No Depression, Harp, MOJO and Uncut. Their music was heard everywhere from the BBC to KCRW to Grey's Anatomy. In early 2008, Tandy multi-instrumentalist Drew Glackin died suddenly and unexpectedly from complications stemming from a thyroid condition. Drew's passing deeply affected Mike and his art... and effectively ended Tandy.

Live, Mick Pini is simply brilliant – but why take my word for it; Eric Clapton called him the “legitimate successor to Peter Green”, while Mick Vernon described him as “ having the energy and attack that made Freddie King one of the greats. There are too few great guitarists working the European scene. Sure there are many good ones, but only a few have the potential to make a mark in a way Peter Green did many years ago.” Perhaps the most telling tribute is the fact that when Mick is in town, Mick Double, Eric Clapton’s manager can regularly be found at the back of the room, quietly enjoying Mick’s set.

Miss Bruise Violet with her bright green hair will be there to tantalise with her burlesque, and doing a little number for us on the ukulele! Talulah herself will be performing acts not seen at The Musician before! With live rockabilly music from The Drugstore Cowboys and as usual Talulah will have a little selection of burlesque goodies at the front door, and will give a prize for best dressed!
