These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
A guide for Artists and Promoters
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.
If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Lead-guitarist and one of the main songwriters for German No. 1 rock band Scorpions, Uli Jon Roth is a true multi-instrumentalist who writes his own musical scores and arrangements.
He is also a music director, paints realistic oil paintings, writes his own poetry as well as philosophical treaties.
Uli invented his own unique instrument - the by now legendary six-octave Sky guitar which is without peer. He produces his own albums and directs his own videos. Artistically he has been an inspiration to many of his fellow artists as well as his audience and continues to be so. He has been cited by countless guitarists from all over the world as one of their main influences.
Widely recognized as perhaps the single most important protagonist of neo-classical guitar playing, Uli is seen by many as a trend-setter who has often been considerably ahead of his time.

An evening with Kim Richey is one that cuts to the heart of the matter. It may not change your life, but it will certainly make it better.
Support Steve Folk lives on a narrowboat and spends much of his time travelling up and down the canals gigging on the way. He's supported everyone from Seth Lakeman to The Magic Numbers and his beautiful songs have captivated audiences across the UK and Europe.

Regarded as one of the UK’s finest proponents of rocking blues, this is a rare chance to see Aynsley Lister up close and personal in a stripped down, intimate setting. Don’t be fooled into thinking solo means ‘limited and plodding’; his solo performances are the perfect platform to witness his amazing ability to sync rhythmical chords, bass lines and stinging lead guitar whilst singing and accompanying it all with his custom-built stomp box!
After live sessions for BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and Paul Jones and performances alongside the likes of Buddy Guy, John Mayall and Robert Cray, Aynsley became the only British artist to be featured in Classic Rock’s Top 10 Contemporary Blues Rock Artists.
Expect an evening of finely crafted songs performed with a passion and conviction that will have you hooked from the very first chord.
"Superb"
"His guitar playing is a fire hazard"

John will be performing songs from his new solo album release ‘The Other Side’ as well as songs from his other successful band projects such as the Rimshots and Johnny Bach. A charismatic, authentic experience.

In 1999 the group began as a covers band playing a varied repertoire of current and classic anthems. The set included several Stereophonics tracks and it soon became apparent that Shane had the same vocal range and a similar voice to Kelly Jones. So in the summer of 2000 they decided to venture into the world of tribute bands and Replicaphonics were born!
They mastered the large catalogue of Stereophonics songs and began to perform live on a regular basis, even playing a fantastic gig at the Working Man's Club in Cwmaman, Wales; where the Stereophonics played their first ever live show, due to it being Kelly, Richard and Stuart's home town! They had the great pleasure of being joined onstage by Stuart Cable Stereophonics former drummer - which was a personal highlight for the band. They received many compliments that evening regarding the performance, even being told that Shane sounds like Kelly by Mrs Jones herself! They continued to perform over the years and became renowned for providing great entertainment that could not be rivalled unless you had an audience with the band themselves.

Tonight sees a special double headlining bill with Sean Wheeler & Zander Schloss + UK legend Derwood Andrews. Despite their impeccable punk rock credentials - (Xander played with Joe Strummer, The Circle Jerks & The Weirdos, Sean with Throw Rag and Derwood with Generation X) the vibe is roots music baked in the Californian desert where they all live-They're part of same desert scene that spawned Josh Homme, QoTSA, Mark Langegan, Desert Session, Eagles of Death Metal etc.
These shows will be the first time that Derwood has played in the UK & Ireland for 20 years and the welcome return for Sean & Zander following their European tour with their pal Mark Lanegan earlier in the year. Sean & Zander play as a duo and Derwood will play solo.
Sean & Zander play a hybrid of folk, country, pop, ragtime, bluegrass and gospel that includes all the frenzied energy and spirit of the duo’s aforementioned bands, but is executed with a soulful dash of Americana charm not often heard west of the Mississippi.
Derwood Andrews is the original teenage hotshot guitarist who played in Generation X (1977-79) and on their first two classic albums. Derwood has since turned his back on the mainstream music industry and moved out to the Californian Desert to play acoustic-electro country blues inspired by the desert environment.

Neon Hearts first got together in 1977 at the height of punk. A bunch of snarling teenagers from Wolverhampton, they were inspired by the raw energy and excitement of the time. There were record deals, an album, 3 singles, tours, a John Peel session, TV appearances, iffy attempts to commercialise them, and the usual band antics. The original line-up called it a day 35 years ago, only bass player Paul Raven made a career in the industry, going on to Killing Joke and Ministry among others before tragically passing away in 2007.
The reformed Neon Hearts are back with a CD of new songs and a great live show. The reunion came about from the opportunity to tour Japan in April 2014. Neon Hearts are original members Tone Dial (Vocals), Keith Allen (Drums) and Martin Ratcliffe (Guitar) with Ed Bol (Bass) bringing a style reminiscent of Raven but with his own edge.
The live set comprises a healthy mix of the old songs and some cracking new tunes. Check them out, it’s like Deja Vu.

A fabulous double bill of folk from two of the most acclaimed acts to emerge from the golden age of UK acoustic music. Bridget St John recorded three delightfully husky-voiced albums for John Peel’s Dandelion label between 1969-1972 before signing for cult label Chrysalis. She then - like her much less famous contemporary Vashti Bunyan - temporarily retired from the public stage before re-emerging for a 1999 tribute-concert to Nick Drake (a friend, as were John Martyn and Kevin Ayers) in her adopted home city of New York. Michael Chapman, another John Peel favourite who recorded four albums for the legendary prog-folk label Harvest, is widely recognised as one of the most distinctive guitarists we have. Michael plays first, followed by Bridget, and they will share the stage for the final half hour or so.

Kelly has enjoyed a whirlwind since May 2013 when she decided to put her all into becoming a self penned singer songwriter. Having originally been inspired by the folk tradition, she returned from travelling determined to give her own material a chance to be heard and put all her energy into realising her dream of becoming a professional musician. Her first single from her album which features the vocals of Luke Jackson was played on BBC Radio Two’s Folk Show with Mark Radcliffe and Bob Harris Sunday show
Kelly has been invited to session for Whispering Bob Harris for his ‘Under The Apple Tree’ show twice and to record at Jon Earl’s famed Songs from the Shed.
“Delightful fresh new talent with a future take on traditional folk”
Being chosen for Folk Radio UK’s ‘Song of the Day’ just ahead of release on March 22nd confirmed the universal appeal of this new dynamic duo. One of Leicester’s newest and upcoming bands, Casino Empire have hit the local music scene hard. Local promoters have quickly recognised the bands potential, placing them into some great support slots for the likes of Catfish & The Bottlemen, The Struts, The Sherlocks, Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock, The Turning and Trampolene amonst many others.
Described by Leicester’s ArtsIn Magazine as 'Arctic Monkeys meets Oasis meets Kasabian', Casino Empire incorporate musical influences from a vast range of bands such as the Rolling Stones, the Who and the Stone Roses.
Also likened to current artists such as Miles Kane and the Arctic Monkeys, the likes of Casino Empire and in particular, frontman Tommy Cobley’s stage delivery and presence, have not been seen gigging on the Leicester scene since the height of the post punk era.

Electric Cake Salad burst onto the Midlands scene back in 2005 with a distorted mix of crunching guitars, pulsing drum loops and midi samples. They effortlessly traverse a multitude of different genres, fusing together 80s and 90s rock and old-school rave and electro. Even styles as diverse as dance, drum and bass, electronica, dubstep and hip-hop are not beyond their fingertips; they have meddled with them all, taking them apart and stitching them back together in their own unique way.
“A truly unique direction, that mix elements of rock with electronica for a refreshingly original and exciting sound.”

Opening our Summer show are local act The Hardy Band, new to the scene but already making a name on the Americana circuit with their country, folk and bluegrass inspired songs. It's a first time in the lounge for this 5 piece outfit but we have a feeling it won’t be the last.
Next up we have Magic Car, now playing as a 3-piece and serving up plates full of original Americana. Based just up the M1 in Nottingham, these guys are signed to ‘Tiny Dog Records’. Both the band's albums have been well received with Radio 2's Bob Harris giving them high praise and air play.
Rounding off the night are your hosts OCR. It's a set full of the sounds and grooves from those north hills of Mississippi. It's blues that never went to Chicago...

Brilleaux are a high-energy, hard driving, British-style rhythm and blues band from New Zealand in the style of bands such as Dr Feelgood, Wilko Johnson, and Nine Below Zero, and in a similar vein to earlier exponents of the genre such as The Yardbirds, Early Rolling Stones, and Johnny Kid and the Pirates.
A typical set by Brilleaux consists of a mixture of British R&B Classics and exciting original material that these masters of Rhythm and Blues have been performing at festivals around the country since 1999.
It is unique, refreshing and extremely lively. If you are looking for slow, cruisey, renditions of old blues classics then you have got the wrong band! These guys go from 0-100 mph in the first set!
Ladies and gentlemen, stack the chairs, and clear the dancefloor - welcome to the Brilleaux show - maximum R&B.

Elder is the definition of a work in progress, as the group continues to meld the familiar sounds of Sleep‘s colossal riffage with their ever-evolving vision of soaring melodies and sonic soundscapes. Listeners will find themselves locked into the trio’s lengthy epics, which toe the line between the chasms of classic stoner metal and mind blowing psychedelic.
"If there's such a thing as fusing some soul into a doom palette, Mos Generator have achieved that. Seldom will you hear an unambiguous merge between the two outside of Black Sabbath's 'Sabotage'"
