These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musician at mohawkvisuals.com once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

Armed with only a modicum of musical ability, a self-deprecating sense of humour and no apparent fear of public humiliation, John Otway has had a career spanning over 20 years. A consummate and highly popular entertainer, these days, he is better known for his comic attempts to scale the heights of superstardom than his actual success. Tonight John will be reading from his recently published auto-biography ‘I Did It Otway’.

Mark Olson was a founding member of The Jayhawks, the most acclaimed band to emerge out of the alt-country scene. He left the band in 1996, but has since continued to record with his new band, The Creekdippers, at his home in the California desert. Considered to be his first true solo album, The Salvation Blues, is a deeply personal work. Mark’s voice and lyrics are complemented by producer Ben Vaughn’s gorgeous musical backdrops. The album also features the long-awaited reunion with his former Jayhawks bandmate and writing partner, Gary Louris.

They may call Bloomington, Indiana, home, but since their 2000 formation, Murder by Death have been a band without musical borders. Theirs is a world where Old West murder ballads mingle with rock-injected Western classicism; where an album’s sequencing can take listeners from a haunted back alley in rural Mexico to a raucous Irish pub. Jack McNeill & Charlie Heys are a young acoustic duo whose reputation is beginning to spread. They are bucking the trend of young folk musicians at the moment by not doing traditional material, but specialising in Jack’s highly individual, very personal, songs. Finalists in the 2007 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award, their two albums have received rave reviews from the likes of fRoots & Rock’n’Reel.
Belinda O’Hooley is best known as the former songwriter and pianist with Rachel Unthank & the Winterset (now The Unthanks). The stark, haunting piano arrangements she brought to the Mercury nominated album The Bairns have evolved and migrated to her new duo with Yorkshire songwriter Heidi Tidow. These dapper-suited gentlewomen have an unconventional, wryly observant, melancholic and sometimes uncomfortable take on life; creating their very own brand of contemporary folk song together with a stage manner likened to Jo Brand meets Laurel & Hardy.

When Annabelle Chvostek joined the Wailin' Jennys in 2004, the rest of the world found out what Canadian roots fans had known for several years: that Chvostek is a formidable songwriter, a versatile multi-instrumentalist, and a fearless and innovative artist whose beguiling left-of-centre compositions straddle the divide between mainstream roots and acoustic indie pop. Chvostek's songs were repeatedly singled out by critics as highlights of the Jennys' Juno-nominated CD, Firecracker. Songwriter Kim Richey has pushed her own envelope enough times so that she can’t be put into any kind of box. Her songs have been recorded by some of the biggest names in Country. Yet despite overwhelming critical success, the general public hasn’t completely gone over. It’s difficult to understand why, since she understands the nuance of pop songwriting to a ‘T’. She has a fine, large voice that is deeply expressive and adds depth and dimension to virtually everything she sings.

Guano are a new band with a mission to thrill you from a menu of aural delights. They play original material that draws heavily from the well of the blues, the firmament of funk, the source of soul, and the rest room of rock. They will be playing songs from their soon to be released debut album “Bat Out of Smell”. Guano are: Simon Faulks, guitarist, a nocturnal creature whose natural habitat is playing with local bar room rockers, The Dissenters. Simon Dennis, drummer extraordinaire, another Dissenter. Tony Sutherland, erstwhile founder of the acclaimed Santana tribute, “Supernatural”, sideman to Sally Barker and studio session man who has hung out with names such as Allan Holdsworth, and Pete Wingfield.
