These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.
If you spot any errors please send an email to paul at mohawkvisuals.com.

Playing a mix of jazz blues, Chicago blues, delta blues, rock & roll and carefully selected popular songs, The Hillmans are now firmly established as a leading band on the Isle Of Wight. This is hardly surprising as they feature the legendary Dick Taylor, guitarist with the Pretty Things and an original member of the Rolling Stones. The band also features Tony Minx's solid rhythm guitar, powerful vocals and howling harmonica, and Mike Huddart's lyrical, driving bass, which combine to provide the ideal platform for Dick to showcase his amazing fretboard technique, particularly with a bottleneck.

Trace Bundy must be seen, not just heard. His music is poetry in motion, using harmonics, looping, multiple capos, and his unique banter and stage presence to deliver an unforgettable live concert experience. Listening to his intricate arrangements is one thing, but seeing the fan-dubbed "Acoustic Ninja" play live confounds even the most accomplished music lovers as to how one person can do all that with just two hands and ten fingers.

Now well established in the nation’s punk circle the members of GreenDate are all gifted musicians in their own right. Her Name is Calla return this year with the new full-length album, The Quiet Lamb, on Denovali Records. Described as one of the UK's "most daring, unconventional bands" (Drownedinsound.com), Her Name is Calla are known for their impressive live shows full of emotion, explosions of noise, and passages of the quietest, most gentle harmonies. Based around a core unit of five members, the band wields a multitude of instruments, from drums and guitar, to records and synths; from violin and trombone, to vocals and harmonica. The resulting sound is dense but controlled. The Quiet Lamb is the result of years of planning, and an intense year of recording in bedrooms, schools and hallways. Stretched over the course of 75 minutes, the new album finds the band at their most passionate to date, taking the listener through a journey of ten songs - each one a part of a whole.

These soulful Hollywood based rockers are THE must-see band 2011. Their performance on Later With Jools Holland at the end of April was so incendiary that the band became the sixth most popular trend on Twitter world-wide the day after the show aired! There aren't enough superlatives in the dictionary to do them justice but the likes of "explosive", "breathtaking" and "jaw-dropping" will have to suffice. Managed by the team behind Bon Jovi, Kiss and Motley Crue, VT come to us fresh from a tour with legendary Queen guitarist Brian May. How about that for rock pedigree?

Jake Morley is remarkable talent. A hugely popular artist on the London circuit, he draws a diverse and enthusiastic audience. His lap style guitar playing is jaw-dropping but it’s his songs the hook-filled melodies and poetic lyrics – that are growing his fan-base and reputation well beyond his home town.Whether gigging with his 4-piece band (which includes ex-Nizlopi double bass player John Parker), or as a solo performer, the reaction of the crowd is always one of pure delight.

Influenced by the rawness of early CCR records and the intimate storytelling of Ian Hunter, The Misers are on the up. Frontman Neil Ivison is blessed with a soulful, passionate voice that evokes 'Free'-era Paul Rodgers, Bruce Springsteen in his 'Born to Run' prime and his modern contemporary Kelly Jones. The band's current champion, Radio 2's Janice Long, heaped praise on the Misers, endorsing their current album as "a return to the 70's golden era of song writing!"

Nashville's Caitlin Rose tells stories of an evolving country. She speaks in a new generation of American twang and "Im-a-gonnas" about another generation of young American alcoholics falling in love at backyard weddings. The stories are old themes voiced with a new ease and energetic pace. They're fearlessly grainy in the same way that the black and white photographs of the 1970s differ from those in the 1950s, in the way that writing about evolution is no longer about getting richer, sleeker, or more efficient. Hers are evolutionary stories in surprising but truthful directions, where sometimes dead flowers mean so much more than live ones. It's the sound of a future grown out of the past, but not out of its expectations. -Kyle Pfister
