These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
A guide for Artists and Promoters
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.
If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

An unstoppable force, fresh faced and emerging from Birmingham's exciting Folk/World scene, The Bonfire Radicals is the coming together of eight inspired and talented instrumentalists. They intelligently weave together Klezmer inspired woodwind, Scottish born and bred fiddles, hard hitting guitar and bass, and global beats from the percussion into a new global sound world.
It all began in 2010 when percussionists Lydia Glanville and George Kirkham decided to bring together a group of diverse players with the aim of creating something different. A few jam sessions later, and the offer a gig supporting Bellowhead's Rachael McShane at Moseley Folk Festival's legendary Lunar Society sessions, The Bonfire Radicals were born.
Since then the band has gone from strength to strength, they have gigs at Moseley Folk Festival and the main stage of Birmingham Symphony Hall under their belts.

Renegades are four mega-talented, Midlands-based musicians with one thing in common; an undying love of the timeless and unforgettable music of Irish superstar rock band Thin Lizzy.
The quartet locked themselves away in the rehearsal studios for almost 12 months to nail note for note renditions of the famed twin guitar fronted, legendary band's evergreen repertoire before they would attempt to play in public.
But when they were ready to rock, boy oh boy oh boy did they rock? Now, a few months down the line, the band have a handful of sizzling gigs under their belt and have speedily built up a solid reputation; as THE band to watch if you are a fan of Lizzy's music. If you can get in, that is!

A welcome return for Cohesion who recently supported The Lake Poets at The Musician. They are a five piece, indie rock band from Sunderland. Their sound has been compared to bands such as Minus the Bear, Maps & Atlases and Two Door Cinema Club.
Despite Cohesion’s style being compared to many of the above, the band isn’t afraid to challenge conventional stereotypes with their unique, fresh and enjoyable sound.
In their short time as a band, Cohesion has expanded across their local music scene, supporting the likes of Frankie and the Heartstrings at their album launch, Drenge on their UK tour and recently played Evolution Emerging, Bernicia Festival and Split Festival alongside artists such as The Cribs, Dizzee Rascal and Maximo Park.

Porchlight Smoker are a Sussex based roots and Americana band, touring in support of their third album ‘Water Into Sand’ released on 26th January via At The Helm/Proper Records. The 4-piece consists of Fred Gregory (mandolin, guitars, vocals), Scott Smith (lap-steel, guitars, banjo, harmonica, clarinet, vocals), Steve Bell (banjo, mandolin, guitars, vocals) and Scott Warman (double-bass, vocals). The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 2009, and described by one critic as “perfectly flawed”. Album number two – imaginatively titled ‘2’ – received national and regional airplay, as well as some great reviews along the way.
"Porchlight Smoker are a lovely band"

Siv's ethereal voice and haunting songwriting brings forth a delicate and modern take on Scandinavian Folk, comparable with other nordic favourites Ane Brun and Moddi. Her 2013 debut For Those I Used To Know is a fearless performance and testament to her bold and honest songwriting. A captivating live performer and inviting storyteller, she has opened for Norwegian indie-sensations Highasakite and Fay Wildhagen, amongst others. She will be joined on tour in The UK in January by Jørgen Nordby - percussionist, videographer and photographer for UK-favorite Moddi.
London born Sofia's voice enters the scene with her sense of lyrical sensitivity and pureness of tone. Comparable to the music of 'Laura Marling' and 'Tegan and Sara,' Sofia's sound matches her diverse background of Venezuelan and Lebanese parents. Now based in NYC, Sofia released her music video and lead track "Mum, I Like A Girl," in December from her debut EP "Once Upon A Time." Sofia has also been featured on LGBT platforms such as "The Advocate," "SheWired," "LGBT Underground," "OUT FM," "The Miami Herald" and "Curve Magazine."

Mage. Five unholy wizards compelled by the power of the riff and dark, dark magic. Forged in dragon's fire atop a lightning lashed mountain in the year of our Lord two thousand and ten. Rumbling riffs combined with finely hewn words of power to conjure up images of otherwordly things creeping forth from the darkest reccesses... *ahem* ...Sorry about that... If you have a low "fantastical bullshit" threshold, Mage are basically five guys who've been around in a variety of bands over the years, brought together by a shared love of "THEE RIFF" and a desire to jam and see what happens. Turns out that what happens is a Stoner/Doomy/Metal type thing, but with a whole bunch of other elements thrown in!

Rarely will you see two people more comfortable on stage than the Skinners. Their live shows have been described (by R2 magazine) as “House-wreckingly good!”, and also as “refreshingly different” and “beyond perfection". Rob and Sarah will leave the audience in no doubt as to why there is such a buzz about them, with sublime vocal harmonies, trademark sax solos, finger picked or insanely fast strummed guitar, and (if the venue permits) live drums, Red Dirt Skinners shows are fun and interactive.
With lyrics that make you cry one minute and have you laughing the next, Rob and Sarah are also five time finalists in the UK Songwriting contest and Sarah won the Best Instrumentalist Award at the 2014 British Blues Awards.
"Homebred duos don't come any more impassioned or impressive"

The DTs were one of the best loved local bands of the early 80’s, playing such classics as Hoochie Coochie Man, Big Train, Goin’ Up The Country and many more. Featuring Steve Walwyn on guitar (now a mainstay of Dr Feelgood), Simon “Honeyboy” Hickling on vocals and harmonica, Craig Rhind on bass and “Cheeky” Chas Chaplin on drums, the band backed Steve Marriott for 2 years, making an album with him and 2 albums as The DTs. For many people this is the ultimate rock/blues line up and is unlikely ever to be bettered.
This is rumoured to be the last ever appearance by the band, so make sure you buy well in advance as this will almost certainly be a sell-out.

Since their humble beginnings in West London in 1996 to now, Who’s Who, the longest established Who Tribute Show in the UK, have received incredible reactions across Europe and beyond for their exciting live performances. Pete Townshend’s leaping and Roger Daltrey’s microphone whirling antics have all but transformed the standard of tribute shows and set a benchmark within the industry for others to follow.
Widely recognised and respected by their musical peers and acknowledged by members of (and those close to) The Who, as the group that most interprets the songs of Pete Townshend and the legendary live performances of The Who with honesty and integrity.
Giving nothing less than 100% during a performance, Who’s Who ensure that a night to remember is guaranteed for those people who are lucky enough to be able to attend.
