A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.

Not listed?
A guide for Artists and Promoters
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Three of the UK’s top singer-songwriters will be performing together at this intimate songwriter's circle show.

Danny George Wilson, having released his latest, hugely praised record 'Stay True' with his Champions Of The World back in September, has since been wowing the crowds with his incredible new songs, with a number of people claiming these shows to have been amongst the top gigs they’d ever witnessed. How about that.

Meanwhile, Peter Bruntnell (“one of Britain’s finest and most overlooked songwriters” – The Line Of Best Fit) released his Retrospective album back in the summer – a collection of songs from his outstanding back catalogue of albums, alongside a new version of Played Out, featuring Rumor.

Neil Halstead, previously known for his bands Slowdive and Mojave 3, following two solo records released through 4AD and then Jack Johnson’s Brushfire Records label, has most recently released an album as a member of Black Hearted Brother. Neil’ll fit in perfectly, being another “one of Britain’s greatest songwriters” (Time Out).

But when they were ready to rock, boy oh boy oh boy did they rock? Now, a few months down the line, the band have a handful of sizzling gigs under their belt and have speedily built up a solid reputation; as THE band to watch if you are a fan of Lizzy's music. If you can get in, that is!

www.greenbirdpromotions.net

You may not have heard Neil McSweeney's name but as well as being a member of Jon Boden's "Bright Phoebus sings Tom Waits" project he'll be appearing at The Musician fresh from supporting Bellowhead on their autumn tour where he went down a storm.  If you saw him at the DeMontfort Hall you’ll know what we mean! Sheffield based, his new album Cargo was released last September.  With guests including Sam Sweeney, Lucy Farrell, Matt Boulter (Lucky Strikes) and Brooks Williams, it's a lovely collection of original material ranging from the loud and rocky to the quiet and delicate.

With his new album, "Smiling From The Floor Up" set for release in January, 2014 is set to be a big year for Paul McClure.  His sets intersperse his trademark dry wit with superb stripped songs of love and loss.

Fri 31

The DTs

£8adv £10door

plus The Della Grants

www.thedellagrants.com

www.xanderpromotions.co.uk

Following on from their hugely successful sell-out gig in January this year, the DTs return one year to the day.  They were one of the best loved local bands of the early 80’s, playing such classics as Hoochie Coochie Man, Big Train, Goin’ Up The Country and many more.  Featuring Steve Walwyn on guitar (now a mainstay of Dr. Feelgood), Simon 'Honeyboy' Hickling on vocals and harmonica, Craig Rhind on bass and 'Cheeky' Chas Chaplin on drums, the band backed Steve Marriott for 2 years, making an album with him and 2 albums as The DTs. For many people this is the ultimate rock/blues line up and is unlikely ever to be bettered.

If you were unlucky enough to be unable to get tickets last time, then make sure you buy well in advance as this will almost certainly be another sell-out.
