These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to musician at mohawkvisuals.com once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.
If you spot any errors please send an email to musician at mohawkvisuals.com.

A firm Musician favourite, Jackie is a truly unique artist, whose vocal prowess and ability to tackle huge subjects, whilst crafting songs of exquisite, soulful Celtic mysticism, is comparable to only Van Morrison. However unlike Van, Jackie has a wicked sense of humour and his anecdotes are legendary. Not only that, he is an amazing percussive guitar player to boot.

Steve Knightley needs little introduction to fans of roots and acoustic music. With Show of Hands, his duo with Phil Beer, described as “one of the great English bands” by Peter Gabriel, he has produced some of the finest and most popular acoustic music of the last decade and more. Songs like Country Life and Cousin Jack have become contemporary classics and their shows are sell-outs wherever they go. Steve has also released two solo albums, Track Of Words and Cruel River, and this will be the first opportunity to see him in Leicester performing songs from those albums as well as Show of Hands material.

1975's Hair of the Dog established Nazareth as an internationally popular hard rock band. Featuring their revamped version of the Everly Brothers' "Love Hurts," the album sold over a million copies in the U.S. Until the end of the '70s, the band continued successfully as a quartet, releasing a series of Top 100 albums. Despite line-up changes including the tragic death of drummer Darrell Sweet in 1999, the core of the band remains to this day with gravel throated front-man Dan McCafferty and bassist Pete Agnew leading Nazareth into their 42nd year on the road. An unmissable chance to see a legendary band at such an intimate venue!

John Cooper Clarke is the Bard of Salford. The unique rapid fire delivery of his poems, alongside razor sharp gags and
tales of the absurd or just hilarious, have created a live career lasting over 30 years. He first toured with Be-Bop Deluxe on their 1977 U.K. tour and has never looked back. During the punk era he provided perfect show support for Buzzcocks, Joy Divison, The Fall and many others. Earning him the mantle of the “Punk poet”. In reality his poems were a mixture of gritty northern realism mixed with an original humour that can’t be emulated.

Barry is a household name (like Domestos and Cif) famed for his legendary comedy writing alongside performing
his classic standup. Ronnie, former lead singer/songwriter/guitarist with seminal late 70s cult rock band Fabulous Poodles, also works as a standup. The live show features Barry’s formidable collection of one-liners and tall stories alongside Ronnie’s versatile musicianship and awesome array of musical impressions. Their comic songs take in the unlikeliest of themes – assisted suicide, mobile phone frustrations, freedom passes and....John Prescott!

Les Barker writes strange poems and comes from originally from Manchester, but he’s now Welsh. He was an accountant before he became a professional idiot. He’s written 77 books, which sell in large numbers at his gigs because people don’t quite believe what they’ve just heard. His poems have spawned a number of folk heroes: Jason and the Arguments, Cosmo the Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower, Captain Indecisive and Spot of the Antarctic, to name but two.

Los Campesinos! (translates as farmers, or peasants, or something) are a seven-piece formed at Cardiff University. Their debut album is a riotous cacophony of perfectly sculpted indie boisterousness. Los Campesinos! leap from the speakers, slap you hard in the face, smile, and invite you to join their party This band are important, and have reinvigorated an increasingly stale indie music scene single-handedly. Los Campesinos! sound like a band who are bursting to make as much noise as possible. That creativity and melodic brilliance bursts out of them and makes that ambition an exhilarating experience.

Multi-award winning Irish superstar comic Tommy Tiernan will take to the stage at the 2010 Leicester Comedy Festival. A fearless force of energy, Tiernan is inspiring and one of the few comics to take his audience on a genuine emotional journey elevating the soul through rich, honest laughs. Tiernan has an instinctive way of crafting words to bring his anecdotes to vivid life and make the jokes truly resonate. Fresh from a sell out runs in Montreal’s “Just For Laughs”, Boston, Chicago & New York, & his 3rd appearance on Letterman. Tiernan’s shows are high intensity, high octane, a no holds barred roller coaster ride as Tommy continues his constant interrogation of the big ideas - Sex, Religion, Family through the lens of his quirks, personal demons and sense of outrage. To spend time in this man’s company is an unmissable treat.

For more than 40 years Martin Carthy has been one of folk music's greatest innovators, one of its best loved, most enthusiastic and, at times, most quietly controversial of figures. His skill, stage presence and natural charm have won him many admirers, not only from within the folk scene, but also far beyond it. Trailblazing musical partnerships with, amongst others, Steeleye Span, Dave Swarbrick and his award-winning wife (Norma Waterson) and daughter Eliza Carthy have resulted in more than 40 albums, but Martin has only recorded 10 solo albums, of which the much anticipated Waiting for Angels is the latest.

www.myspace.com/badappetiteofficialBad Appetite are the rising stars of the Leicester rock scene. This three piece, made up of brothers Matt (vocals/guitar) and Dan Lonsdale (drums) and James Plimmer (bass guitar) are inspired by their heroes AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin and the like. Relentlessly gigging in pursuit of their dream of reaching the big time, you can only believe they will come out on top. It's all big riffs and raw rock n' roll; they play with a maturity that belies their years and it's good fun from start to end. Welcome to the rock show...
