These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management
The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice.
We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.
Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.
A guide for Artists and Promoters
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.
We also need you to do the following -
Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.
Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.
Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.
Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.
If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

Sack Sabbath deliver a powerhouse set of all the greatest doom laden anthems from the masters of metal, performing only songs from the classic era of Sabbath 1970-1978. They will transport you back in time to the mid 70’s when Black Sabbath were at the peak of their game and ruled the rock world.
Iron On Maiden hail from Leeds and can justifiably claim to be Europe's Number One tribute to the mighty Iron Maiden. Not only do they boast a high energy and explosive show, their sound is so authentic you would not know the difference! Up the Iron-Ons....

The Ian Derbyshire Band return with a collection of all new original songs of life, love, death and dodgy politicians, written around electric guitar and vocals (Ian Derbyshire), bass guitar (Paul Brown) and drums (Ben Payne). A melodic, hard–hitting and powerful 3-piece not to be missed!

Renowned for his intense live shows and raw emotive music, Derrin Nauendorf’s music is hard to categorise, made up from many roots styles, blues, folk and Americana. Untamed acoustic guitar, cutting lyrics, a powerful, evocative voice and honest songs, delivered with passion, but twisted to a unique sound.
“First impressions? One Australian guy with an acoustic guitar and his mate with a homemade drum kit. What would you think? Me too. I then listened to his live album and Derrin, guitar, sidekick and drums proceeded to blow me away.”

The line up is now confirmed for this ‘Goin Down South’ Chickenhead Lounge special.. Its a night dedicated to slide guitars, 3 string specials, roots blues and to the sound of raw southern music...
Opening the night are two local good ole boys who are usually seen on stage as part of Leicester based outfit ’Blueswamp Southern’... tonight it's going to be a little different, BOB DAYFIELD & NICK HOUGH take to the stage as a two piece guitar outfit playing some mean roots blues... expect plenty of slide and stomp.
Next up we welcome ‘The Godfather of the UK cigar box guitar scene’.. CHICKENBONE JOHN, he plays them, he builds em and runs the UKs biggest and best cigar box festival. This man has played at most of the top blues festivals and tonight he’s here in The Lounge to shred his 3 stringer, and maybe more... hell yes!
Rounding off the night your hosts The OUTWOODS COUNTY RIDERS.. tonight the boys pay tribute to the late ’R L Burnside’ with a set of blistering ramshackle North Hills Mississippi blues...
As always we have the ‘Chickenvision’ film show and tonight we also got some nice give aways from those nice folk at JACK DANIELS, ’the’ sour mash Tennessee whiskey...
ALL THIS AND ITS FREE ENTRY... we do have a collection for the bands though, so if you’ve had a good night please throw in your loose change...

Simon Friend’s Seismic Survey was conceived as a collaboration with long-time musical sparring partner Mick Doyle (mandolin player with Neverland, No Right Turn and Bloodsimple). No Right Turn (NRT) bass player Andy Cooper was recruited, along with Paul Miro, best known for MTV-friendly 1990s rock band Apes, Pigs & Spacemen, but now also a familiar face as a solo artist, often performing with Mick in their duo Bloodsimple
The setlist is a fluid creation, with some material drawn from Simon’s songs made famous by The Levellers, such as ‘Is this Art’ and ‘The Boatman’, but in each case dismantled and reworked from the ground up. Additional tunes are drawn from the Miro and Doyle songbooks.

Coming together in London in the early 80s, TMTCH had early success with a fantastic cover of Eric Bogle's 'Green Fields Of France' (1984), which soon became a big hit on the Indie charts. The albums that followed - Night Of A Thousand Candles, How Green Is The Valley, Waiting For Bonaparte and Silvertown all met with critical acclaim and the band were a force to be reckoned in concert halls across Europe. Disbanding after 1990's brilliant Domino Club, TMTCH eventually reunited in 1996, and continue to sell out venues across the land with their firebrand mix of punk passion, rousing guitars and folk roots.

Here it is, the missing fifth side of Exile on Main Street. Putting Dan Baird and Warner E. Hodges in the same band is like packing hydrogen and plutonium into the same bomb: it’s not an intriguing combination, it’s a got-damn weapon of mass destruction. In Homemade Sin, you get three-quarters of the original Georgia Satellites line-up - Baird, bassist Keith Christopher and drummer Mauro Magellan - augmented by Scorchers gunslinger Hodges. The guitars tangle like rival strands of kudzu underneath Baird’s paint-stripping howl. This is how rock sounded in the days of red meat, no-filter Marlboros and plaster casting; the hip-shake-boogie beat of 'Hellzapoppin' alone would cause McFly’s testicles to drop! |

After a storming performance at the Musician last year Britain's best interpreters of Mr Zimmerman's songs make a welcome return. Featuring Steve Gibbons on lead vocals, Dave Pegg (Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull) on bass, Gerry Conway (Fairport Convention, Pentangle) drums, P J Wright (Little Johnny England, Steve Gibbons) on lead guitar and Phil Bond (Steve Gibbons, too many others to mention) on keyboards this band is, as Mojo said "a tribute in the best possible sense. Touching and deftly handled, it makes you marvel, once again, at the scope and majesty of this singular writer's work."

In a world full of manufactured over-hyped pop music, Aynsley Lister is proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel. His powerful, infectious songs are unashamedly blues influenced and performed with the kind of conviction of someone twice his age. Say the word blues to a commercial record company and see how far they run! But Lister carries on regardless, writing and recording albums that continue to sell and prove that blues rock music can be commercial and have you singing along to yourself days after you hear it, just like half the committee written stuff you hear every day on the radio.
"Exceptionally mature and exciting"
"Superb"

A world-class musician, Simon ‘Honeyboy’ Hickling is a blues harmonica ace with a hard earned and well-deserved international reputation. His subtle and fabulously expressive playing is grounded firmly in the ‘50s and ‘60s heyday of the Chicago and Gulf Coast styles of playing. With a tremendously experienced band backing him, Simon never fails to deliver anything less than a first-rate evenings entertainment and never lets good taste and soulfulness stifle a rockin’ night out.

Some bands belong to their own time, others trespass on decades where they don't really belong. Diesel Park West must have seemed to some people back in '89, with the release of the far-reaching Shakespeare Alabama, the most welcome and liberating guitar band anyone had heard for years. A lot of artists who have enjoyed massive acclaim and success since, may well tip hats towards the Diesels for being pioneers in the re-emergence of the guitar as the primary sound of contemporary music. Add to that song writing that both provokes and reassures... sometimes within the same lyric...then maybe its appropriate to start spreading the word.
