A word about our listings

A guide for Customers

These days artists and bands tend to book their tours months in advance. In order to give you the best notice of up and coming shows we list events once they have been confirmed by the band or their management

The downside of this is that dates can change due to unforeseen circumstances, sometimes at very short notice. We do our best to ensure that this site is kept as up to date as is possible, with updates happening at least once a week.

Therefore to avoid disappointment we recommend that you check these listing prior to setting out for your show especially if you are traveling any distance.

Not listed?
A guide for Artists and Promoters
The quickest way to get yourself included in our listings is to send an email to rideout at stayfree.co.uk once your gig is confirmed.

We also need you to do the following -

Put the name of the artist or band name along with the date of your show in the email subject line.

Attach a reasonable sized photograph. A 72dpi, jpeg, bigger than 200x200 pixels would be fine. Please don't email files over 1mb in size. If in doubt please drop us a line before sending. Let us have your web address so we can link to your site or Myspace page.

Send us some text. Whilst we are happy to tidy up spelling or grammar, we don't have the time to write or edit copy for you. Ideally we need a nice concise 'blurb' of between 75-100 words. Please don't send a three page biography, or else we are likely to bounce it back to you. If you have a selection of press quotes send what you have as we can usually easily compile something from them. There are plenty of examples of the sort of thing we need here on the site to help you out.

Please note - If you have played at The Musician before and we have text on file, we will continue to use use it for any subsequent listings unless you supply new copy.

If you spot any errors please send an email to derek at indiecentral.co.uk.

The Ali Clinton Band

£5adv £7otd

aliclinton.com

Ali Clinton is a lead guitarist, singer and songwriter. Picking up the guitar at age 7, Ali quickly drew influence from his early heroes: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher. By the age of 12, Ali had played with the Irish legend Pat McManus (of the Mama's Boys and Celtus), Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake and Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash.

At the age of 16, Ali auditioned for the role of rhythm/duel guitar for the legendary Uli Jon Roth. With only days to learn a full set, Ali got the gig, pulling off solos from early Scorpions classics such as “We’ll Burn The Sky”, “In Trance” and many other virtuoso pieces.

Ali has recently released his debut EP under the veteran production skills of Mudd Wallace, and is currently writing his debut album.

Frontier Ruckus

Folk singers aren’t born, they’re shaped. If Matthew Milias had been born and reared in California, he very well could be singing sunny surf-pop tunes. It just so happens that Milias, vocalist and chief songwriter for the Americana folk band Frontier Ruckus is from Orion Township, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

Milias’ songs may not be straightforward social commentary, but he’s been able to capture suburban life and the effects of a rough economy like no other since Bruce Springsteen.

“We’re really not trying to write songs about economics or political songs about the downfall of America,” says Milias. “I’m just trying to capture my experiences.”

Rolling Stone may have described them as “Gothic Americana” after they played at this year’s Bonnaroo, but Frontier Ruckus is much more. Comforting and warm, their songs feels like indie films brought to life, one part “The Graduate” and one part “Little Miss Sunshine.” Like independent cinema, Frontier Ruckus relies on strong character-driven storytelling, not special effects and sexy mass marketing.

The Silver Threetles (Beatles Tribute)

£5

silverthreetles.co.uk

The Silver Threetles are more than a tribute to The Beatles, they are an in depth appreciation of Beatles music. A homage. The Silver Threetles came out of the desire to see The Beatles perform again. How would The Beatles deliver those songs after all this time?

There's millions of Beatles tributes, dressing up and recreating the records. The Silver Threetles decided that they wanted to focus solely on the music, noodling with the songs until they felt new and different.

"The challenge is to keep the essence of the song, whilst giving them a playful fresh coat of paint."

The Silver Threetles have created a unique series of shows that give the audience a breathtaking Beatles experience, paying tribute to music, but also adding a huge amount of energy to the perfoermcance. You can expect more than just a Beatles tribute band. This is an event.

plus Birch Bones

tremblingbells.com

alasdairroberts.com

Trembling Bells
The song-based group of Alex Neilson (drummer to Baby Dee, Tight Meat, Bonnie Prince Billy, Josephine Foster and more.) Like a faintly unhinged take on Fairport Convention or Fotheringay with soaring uplifting Sandy Denny style vocals that occasionally give way to deranged passages of feedback and clattering percussion.

Alasdair Roberts
Alasdair Roberts’s music embodies the wildness, the humour and the beauty of the Scottish countryside where he grew up. Roberts isn’t strictly a traditional singer, though he has released albums composed entirely of traditional songs. His self-penned songs show him to be a master storyteller and there are real people in his lyrics, not cartoon constructions. In his songs, their lives, their emotions, become as real and important as our own.

Never The Bride

£13adv £15otd

neverthebride.com
In the very heart of the notorious London rock and roll scene exists a whirlwind duo of female energy and ecstasy, recognised as the true Queens of Rock - please meet Never The Bride!

Roger Daltrey described “Nikki Lamborn as the best female rock voice since Janis Joplin and I know what I’m talking about, I knew Janis”. The legendary Dame Shirley Bassey called the girls “inspirational” and they have performed private shows for Cher and Lisa Minnelli with Bob Harris from BBC Radio 2 referring to them as “one of the best live bands in Britain”. The ladies' roll-call list is simply mind blowing – as are the stories they readily share.

Bristol born Nikki Lamborn carries the dynamo vocal lead, while Glaswegian, Catherine ‘Been’ Feeney asserts the ‘sonic art’ with keys and vocals. Their raw, unfettered talent is undeniable and is enough to justify the impression the girls have left on audiences throughout Never The Bride's superb 25 year run.

Speeding at you like an out of control train, XII Boar (pronounced 'Twelve Boar') have been tearing a new one into the stoner/sludge/metal scene over the last few years. The three-piece wrecking ball from Aldershot, Hampshire, blast their way into your skull with ear-splitting leads, sonic riffs, filthy bass lines, whiskey drenched vocals and a sweet southern groove.

Combining Motorhead’s swagger, Sabbath’s downtrodden doom and the swinging crunch of Corrosion of Conformity – these Hampshire louts lay down a colossal slab of rock n' roll-infused groove metal that fuels even the greatest parties.

With their début album 'Pitworthy' released in March 2015, XII Boar are on track to be unstoppable.
